NASA: Mars

The maven aircraft is being launched by NASA today for a 10 month mission to the planet Mars

Unlike other missions this will take no photos it to gather data only it will not land simply orbit around the planet Mars and one of its moons

Maven will be the first spacecraft to explore Mars's upper atmosphere, looking to find how the heat and water escapes through its atmosphere

The orbit will reach from 93 miles above the planet surface two 3000 miles which will take it out past one of the moon

Maven should reach Mars by September 2014 so it would not be able to vote in the next election, sorry

Mavenis actually quite small and pass to twins solar panels, which measure 37 feet from wing to wing
