Okay - my kids say I can be a tad judgemental ... and I jump to conclusions rather quickly, and am hard to turn around.
The ONLY issue I had, before seeing this video, was the fact that she was appointed to her present position only 10 months ago or so ... a bit too short to be moved up, if you ask me -- there are several others just as qualified, who meet Biden's criteria of being both Black and a woman, who have been waiting a bit longer ... apparently, Biden thinks there are only so many judges who are both black and women!
Sorry - I digress - back to my point ...
I'm really not so sure she should have been placed where she is, even now ... by the sounds of it, she is very much against the death penalty ...
and she may have some really good reasons for it -- there is an argument that more people of color receive the Death penalty than whites ... there's the argument that Death penalties can not be taken back if years down the road it becomes clear that the inmate was actually innocent (such as DNA) ...
BUT -- it sounds like, according to the case that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) brought up - she is so totally against capital punishment, that she would let a fierce, repeat offender live on the people dole for the rest of his natural life, and then some.
I have heard that it is more expensive to put them on Death Row - because of all the Appeals that they get on the taxpayers money ... no matter the skin tone ... but then, I just don't know.
I understand that she gets to have her own personal opinions - just like every other American - BUT - it raises a question of whether she can keep those opinions out of how she hears & rules form the bench ...
And I think we need LONGER than 10 months to she how she does on this point.
