WHY ARE ABOTION RIGHTS ADVOCATES GETTING INVOVLED IN IVF??

So in Alabama - one of 15 states  (limits access to abortion - it has been determined by a federal court judge that all life, even frozen embryos, are "life"

Some background might be useful here ...

The case began when, what was described as a patient on Good Morning America (ABC) this morning, gathered up a bunch of petri dishes and "accidentally" dropped them.  I put that in quotes because it deals with the operation of their mind and I can't do that.

The person was charged with "Wrongful Death" in the distruction of the petri-dishes and the contents.

When IVF is looked into, my understanding is there is a LOT of paperwork which gets signed ... some of which deals with the "ownership" of these embryos, the one NOT implanted.
In general, multiple eggs/ovum are fertilized, several are implanted to increase the odds of "viability" ... but the question is, what happens to those which are not implanted?

The question is a deep one -- it seems logical that the lab stores them ... but for how long? and what happeneds if the people who "donated"/supplied the components pass away, do they give up their rights? What if there is a storage fee and it doesn't get paid?

Lots of questions ... few answers

So the question becomes -- what the heck does the IVF clinic do with all the extra eggs/sperm/embryos they have?

But again ... why are Abortion Rights Activists getting involved?

Other than trying to get the court of conclude when Life actually begins, I just don't see where this effects them.

They said the ruling (saying life begins at conception) would (a) block women from IVF (b) make the process more expensive (c) force some clinics to close

How could this make it harder for women?  It simply says what a vast majority of these women already believe ... life begins when egg and sperm get together ...

And cost?  Do they think this is cheap? oh heck no!  IVF can costs no less than $10,000, and that's IF a woman is willing to donate her eggs for women who cannot supply their own eggs.

As far as closing goes ... just like Abortion clinics ... where there's a will, there's a way.  Women will have to go to a different state if this is something they feel they need to do.

I don't mean to sound heartless ... but let's get real here ... the majority of the people who do IVF are not homeless, poor, or struggling to get by ... they are people who are fairly influential ... fairly "affluent" (oh I hate that term) ... in general, they are not living in rundown tenement housing, is all I'm saying.
A ttrip to another state isn't going to hurt them all that much.

But we will have to see what happens.

I'm thinking, if it makes it to the Supreme Court, that it will be seen as a "State" issue, just as Abortion was ... so each state will be able to make its own ruling based on pervailing thoughts.

But why now??

Why is this getting media focus now?  Its been in the courts for quitte a while by the sounds of it ... so why now?

Must be the new polls that have come out ... the ones that say 75% of democratic voters don't want either Mr. Biden, nor Ms. Harris in office ... where 80% of the republican voters polled say they would support Mr. Trump if he were the nominee ...

Its going to be the Unaffiliated who make the decision again this time ... and it sounds like its gonna be a squeaker this time.
