So, here's a story from yesterday's news .... I almost missed it, I wasn't going to watch the news after 20/20 (ABC) but changed my mind ... and I saw a story about a man who has fled the state, even though the court was warned about his flight potential.
His name? I'll take a stab at it but I will probable spell it wrong ... Saib Sheik Shieb, maybe? (UPDATE: turns out his name is Abi Shieb sied
He is a a native of kenya - he has a wife and child there ... the court has been told ... so the judge? what did he do?
He gave TWO bonding options:
1)$50,000 with the surrender of his passport
or
2)$150,000 unconditional ...the prosecutor wanted tis amount to be $1 Million ... well, he was being convicted of being part of a $1Million+ fraud scheme ... he to the unconditional bond ...
and did not show up for his hearing!
They don't have records of him having gone on any flights out of MSP international airport, but it's only 8 hrs to Chicago's international airport - and since he likely wasn't on any "Do Not Fly" lists yet, it is likely he went back to Kenya.
And if he didn't ... well .... let's hope he is still drawing breath someplace.
But - as it turns ut ... this two bonding options are required in the state of Minnesota ...EXCEPT OF CASES OF "SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE" SUCH AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
bOND HAS BEEN SURRENEDERED AND a nation-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest ... problem is, how many OTHER people are out thee doing the same thing?
-------------
UPDATE:
they do know he fled the country, BUT they do NOT know which country he went to .... hmmm, I'm going to guess either Kenya or the UK (they are having an immigrant crisis of their own)
