It's kind of nice to hear somebody else actually use the same phrasing I've been thinking .... Why is her last name DIFFERENT from everyone else in her family?
I've worked with a lot of kids from African countries ... back in the 89's & 90's, but I had a few different countries ... and they had the same last name as their parents. Or at least one of their parents.
WHO IS "Omar" ro Ilhan??
The guy she married .... the one they say is her "brother" .... from my understanding, is likely NOT her actual brother - boy\\to have their father's last name - and if they have the same last name, then chances are either:
(a)he's a cousin from her mother's side, thru an uncle
or
(b)she likely could have taken the name of her husband "American style" .... but that still doesn't add up.
The LAST/SURNAMES/ of children in Somalia is very different than in the USA.
