maybe to you it means waiting for the cookies/cake to get out of the oven ...
maybe it means waiting for that first bite of Thanksgiving turkey ...
maybe it means imagining the look on someones face when they open the holiday gift you got them ...
or maybe ... it means waiting for the other shoe to fall - that's where I am this year - waiting for the other shoe to fall ...
The price of food has jumped yet again .. so much so that my youngest actually went to Aldi's yesterday -- I like Aldi's but she's had some iffy experiences with their products, but then whe has a wheat allergy (non-celiac, wheat sensitivity the doctors call it) ... anyways - she got me some celery for less than $1 a bunch/stalk (the individual sticks are called RIBS, fyi) and some sweet potatoes for 57 cents a pound ... but she had to go to the regualr store for her lemons - Aldi's had none - she said the picking at the store were slim-to-none
I can remember a time when $30 would buy an entire meal - turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, Waldorf salad, pies, etc ... I also remember when the prices started going up and we asked my folks to bring the pies (so my Ma could have something we knew was on her diet plan) and my sister-in-law the cookies/breads (her specialty) ... these days I'm not sure if - well, let's not go there, we are not having a big family gathering this year.
Those were times when gasoline prices were pretty reasonable ... now a pretty chunk of change goes on the credit card every fill-up and the impact isn't felt until the end of the month.
Now add onto that groceries ... and people are really going to be getting a punch in the forehead for a holiday gift!
The government, aka President Biden, have released a bunch of oil from the National Fuel Reserves ... meant for "emergency use only" .. I want to say, something like 50 million gallons, have been "released" ... no word though as to WHERE it will go, or HOW MUCH will be allowed, nor even if it will be WINTERIZED - did you know that gas for your car has a different formula for the winter than it does for the summer???
The next question is - HOW LONG before it hits the actual pumps? and HOW LONG before they refill what they just took out?

Than there's heating costs for your home ... he hasn't even touched this one yet. Although I've heard newscasters speculate that the NFR release will help with that too -- of course how is beyond me, after all, there's a huge difference between Natural gas and Refined Oil gas ... hmmmm, we will have to see what happens I guess.
ANTICIPATION ... Its making me wait!
