FORGET THE PAST, JUST REPEAT IT

The morning news shows have gone bananas!

So I was watching "Good Morning America" (ABC) this morning - see I do watch something other than FoxNews - and they began a piece about "record breaking" highs along the east coast ... and let's get serious, it really doesn't take all that much to break any record ANY WHERE in the USA ... but then they tied it into the wild fires out west, and the high winds they've been having and then (figuratively) tearing at the clcthes, foaming at the mouth about how its all because of "Global Warming" or "Climate Change"

No -- its called NATURE ... they seem to have forgotten about what the area was like before 1950 ... that the lawns and trees they see everywhere are not NATIVE to the area ... that before 1926 or so (I think that was the time) there was no reservoir or aqueducts to get water to the larger cities in California ... and thrat even then, what was supposed to last the city for 100 years was used in about 5 years because suddenly people had to have deep green lawns in their front yards

I'm trying to say, very badly, that people these days tend to FORGET what used to be, and now they are finding its happening again and they seem so surprised by it.

CA is complaining they're in a "drought" - no, you are getting the amount of rain that is supposed to be there.  or they complain there's too much rain and now there's mudslides - yeah, because there weren't houses there before, you took out all the trees that held the soil with their root systems ... or, and this one really gets me, they are concerned about all the earthquakes in San Francisco - do you know why? because the city is a giant LANDFILL!! but that's another story 

We've been through this before - we survived it, for the most part - it was called the Dust Bowl ... people thought there was plenty of good soil & water in the southwestern part of the nation ... OK, KS, TX, etc and they planted ... they had some really good years for a while, but then NATURE ... you know, it always messes things up .. it decied to go back to NORMAL and people found that they were WRONG.

During the 1930s and 1950s we had huge tornado outbreaks - nothing "caused" it, it was just NATURE taking its course - but they didn't pani about it, they looked at it as Nature doing her worse and they LEARNED from it, that's where Doppler Radar came from, that's where the whole NWS came from!

Now with NOAA, NWS, and all the other alphabet soup of agencies out there looking for funding - we have been spoon fed "Climate Change" and "Global Warming" ... in the 70s we were actually told that we should worry about "Global Cooling" because they were predicting another Little Ice Age ...

All I'm saying is ... DON'T TRUST EVERYTHING YOU HEAR/READ/WATCH ... do the research YOURSELF ... watch some HISTORY programs if you must ... but trust me, unless there's some HUGE apocalyptic event, we will get through this ... with a little effort.
