Oh look a story that has (almost) nothing to do with the U.S.
This is about Malaysia ... well Malaysia Airlines, to be exact ...
10 years ago, I'm pretty sure I did a post on it ... but I'm not looking, if you'd like to you can ... a flight simply disappeared.
Poof! It was gone ...just dropped off the radar.
They searched forever it seemed for this plane, but I don't think they found anything.
At one point they thought they had found a piece of the plane washed up on a coastal region of Australia, but it turned out to be from an earlier crash that simply took that long to wash up.
Malaysia Flight 370 has never been found ... I don't believe any bits from the luggage has washed up anywhere either ... all very strange. Especially for a 777 with 239 peole on board (this INCLUDES pilot, co-pilot, navigator, stewards) ... that's a LOT of cargo - normally there would have been stuff floating on top of he water IF it had plunged into the Indian Ocean ... which is where they assume it went down,
Ocean Infinity, a company from Texas, USA, has arranged withe the Malaysian government a "No Find, No Fee" deal to look for the plane.
Basically, it sounds like, if they find nothing they will be paid .... nothing.
The company says it has "scientific evidence" about where the plane went down.
Malaysia's Transportation Secretary said that IF the new evidence is credible" then he will push to start looking again.
In otherwords ... if the Malaysian government feels like they have to in order to Save Face with the world, then they MIGHT look into searching for the flight again ....
Ans these searches aren't exactly cheap either ... there's a LOT of personale involved.
So it might be a good thing, this arrangement with the TX company ... who, bttw, did their own search of the area in 2018, but found nothing ...
The company says it has better technology now.
I don't know that much about Malaysia ... but it sounds like it has both a Royal family and a Prime Minister .... so I am assuming it also has a parliment ... very much like the UK.
They may not have the funds to spend on long sea-searches ... so this could be a VERY good deal for them.
Let's hope they find some answers ... let's hope the "black boxes" (which are bright orange, btw) can be found and are NOT degraded to the point to where they can't get any information from them.
Right now, I believe they are listing the cause as "human error" though they don't really know - that seems to be the standard - and perhaps this can answer that.
