Bloomberg.com: U.S.

Bloomberg.com: U.S.: "The congressional proposal would provide coverage in some cases to families making as much as $83,000 a year, Bush said. "

Save us from ourselves. Okay if you are earning $83,000 a year then there is at least 1 person in teh family working full time with benefits....granted many of them will have to pay for those benefits but then they do have benefits...so why is the government paying for the insurance??

The only way I can see a household income of 83,000 is if there are more than two working adults in the house....like a household that has both working parents and then a couple of working kids as well. Of course this just means one has to wonder why with $83,000 the family would need the government to pay.

I think it would be much easier for the cost of health care to get cut than it is to pay for everyone's health care.

For instance, just to get into the dr's office it is $80 at our clinic....if the dr has to deal with more than one problem at the time they get to charge you again as if you had a second visit...why? Because the law doesn't say they can't.

Hubby went in for a physical....they said that it was all one cost, $100....so while he was there he told the dr about some soreness in his throat and the dr peeked in and said it was nothing and didn't order any testing...when the bill came we had been charged for the physical and an office visit...when I called they said that the all-in-one charge only covered the physical part.
When I explained that it was the same visit and not another one, she asked if the dr used a tongue depressor....that made it a seperate issue so it got charged as a seperate visit.

I told her I was glad I didn't think that was fair since it didn't involve anything unusual...but she said the insurance company's didn't say they couldn't so they were doing it. If it weren't for the fact that they are the only decent clinic this side of town....I'm telling you!

So back to this insurance bill....

Basically what is happening is the democrats and some really stupid republicans are purposefully pushing for a bill that (a)they know is a really bad bill (b)doing it knowing it will make the President and the party look bad (c)playing games on the tax payers dime (d)not doing anything to fix the real problem (e)going to be vetoed anyways and (f)is already covered by an already existing program which they are going to let expire....all in the name of politics!

This pisses me off and the American public seems not to care a shit! Everyone is pissing and moaning so much about Bush that no one seems to be keeping an eye on the big picture....we have become so obsessed about the position of President that we fail to realize that the ones that have really screwed up this nation--really as in a lot and really as in the real culprits---is the congress.

Senate passes bills that make them look good that they know will never pass the House....the House passes bills that they know will never make it thru senate committee...committees are formed to study questions that congress has no right looking into, yet they ignore what they shouldn't...or they do an incomplete investigation---actually these investigations have beome a big joke! Since they have hit the television they have become nothing more than just a new way of getting your face in public (do you really think John"horseface" Kerry cared about all the issues before him? Listen to his questions...he didn't really care-it was just free adverts).

What we need is a law that says "all companies must offer their employees who work over 35hrs/wk a family health insurance plan that covers at a minimum 75% of costs, with premiums not to exceed 1% of their weekly income, and deductable/out of pocket charges not to exceed 3% their yearly income." so for a family earning 80,000 this means that the monthly premium would be around $66, and the deductable/out of pocket would be $2400...but it will never happen, that would mean congress would have to take an actually stand on something and try to get something done.
