Quote Of The Week

Hands down it will be House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on the news program "this Week" when he described the House members as:
" ... 218 frogs in a wheelbarrow"

LOL - how perfect is that??

Straight From the Horse's Mouth

ok I was wrong - there are THREE of them today ...
Democrats - the gift that keeps on giving!
... heirs who now inherit - they haven't done this on their own, they haven't worked hard - that's a pure gift to someone who was lucky enough to be related to some one or very friendly with some one who's left you the money - so by your own justification that would not apply to the estate tax
Barney Frank
Representative, Massachusetts - Democrat
I don't understand him - he is from a working class family ... his father ran a truck stop or something.  Barney Frank had to drop out of Harvard to help the family when his father passed .... ooooooohhhhhhh.

But I would think that this would put him on the side of the common folk .... or at least those who figured out a way to save for their kids and grandkids so that they will have an easier time at life.

Of course this is the same man that said:
"These two entities...are not facing any kind of financial crisis.... The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing"
He was talking in 2009 about Fannie Mae & Freddy Mac - you know those two mortgage companies who are blamed for the crash of the housing market??  And it was about Bush trying to set up a department within the Treasury department to keep a closer eye on them and find out what the heck was going on.

of course you have to remember that his lover/boyfriend/partner/SO (don't know what term he was using) at the time, was working for Fannie Mae during the 90's!

hmmm. No conflict of interest there.

oh ...

he doesn't have any kids either ... no one to leave his $900,000 estate too (at least that's the estimate) ... except for his current partner - who I've only ever referred to as a 'surfing ethusiest' ... in my part of the country we call those 'beach bum boy toys'.

Straight From the Horse's Mouth

He's ba-a-a-a-a-ck!!
We are starting this process just like we did in Iraq, we're starting it in July of 2011 and we are going to be totally out of there - come hell or high water - by 2014
Joe Biden, Vice-President
Meet The Press, 19DEC2010
about pulling troops from Afghanistan

This was such a bad blunder that Robert Gibbs (WH Press Secetary) was tripping all over his tongue trying to spin it ... trying to say that Biden meant from 'combat' (security issues) to 'instructional' ...

You have to remember though that Biden is also the one who stated during the campaign that:
  • $150,000 would be considered "upper income"
  • there was no such thing as clean-burning coal plants
  • there would be no new coal plants
  • tax were going to have to go up
  • oh - really there are too many to list, you'll have to check past posts
At least now we know why they call him "Hidin' Biden" or is that "Hide-'Im Biden"?
Of course - he must have forgotten that NATO just had a conference where it was decided by all concerned (including Afghanistan) that it would be in the countries best interest to KEEP troops there until it has a sense of 'autonomy' ... while this might mean military missions might begin withdrawl in 2011, the military precence will be there a lot longer than 2014 ...

Straight From the Horse's Mouth

I have two of these today - but I will post each one seperate ... just cuz I can ...
hmmm, I feel safer don't you?
We are, and thousands of people are working 24/7 - 364 days a year to keep the American people safe.
Janet Napolitano
Head of Homeland Security
Maybe on that day off they are protecting those 2 states that Obama claimed we had (remember his 52 states speech?) ... two whole days during leap year, one for each state!

Top 10 Quotes of 2010

I don't really believe these since it seems like most are just from the last few months of 2010 ... but here is the list that has been circulating (from the Yale librarian)

  1. I'm not a witch - Christine O'Donnell, CT candidate Senate (Oct 4)
  2. I'd like my life back - Tony Hayward, BP VP (May 30)
  3. If you touch my junk, I'm gonna have you arrested - airline passenger to TSA worker (Nov 24)
  4. Don't retreat, instead Reload - Sarah Palin, tweet (Mar 23) ... never heard this one
  5. Ch! Ch! Ch! Le! Le! Le! - crowds at miner rescue in Chile (Oct 13), their version of "usa, usa, usa"
  6. I hope that's not where we're going, but you know, if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies. They're saying: My goodness, what can we do to turn this country around? - Sharon Angle (Nov 2)
  7. We have to pass the bill in order to know what's in it - Nancy Pelosi, on Health Care bill (Mar 9)
  8. I'm going to take my talents to South Beach - Labron James, some basketball star, I think (Jul 8)
  9. You're telling me the Seperation of Church & State is in the First Amendment? - Christine O'Donnell (Oct 19)
  10. They should never have put me with that woman. ... She was just a sort of bigoted woman who said she used to be Labour (sic) - Tony Blair, fmr PM Britain (Apr 28)
First, to me a 'quote of the year' should be something short that has become a catch phrase ... like "I am not a crook" ... "Whatzzzzup" ... "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" ... "depends on what your definition of 'is' is" ... you know ... like that.

This eliminates Angle & Blair's quotes - they are too long to fit on a t-shirt.

Second, the Chilean minor rescue quote is no more quotable than 'usa, usa, usa' ... its a sign of patriotism, not a quote -- sorry.

Third, I just want to make this plain - the First Amendment quote ... she was technically correct.  The First Amendment states that the government should not ESTABLISH a religion or prevent someone from PRACTICING their own religion ... it says nothing about 'seperation of church & state' to mean keeping religion out of schools ... and technically an education is guarentteed under the Constitution either.

Lastly, I think the 'Reload" quote should have been number one -- I'm sorry ... that's damned funny!  I had never heard the quote before, but that is just so hilarious ... its short, to the point, witty, and multi-functional ... reload could also refer to computers, video games, music, etc. even if it isn't what she meant.

Jolly Joker

Okay this isn't a joke -- it was something I heard on tv ... but it was so funny I just had to share it...
"I have been told I have a face that peaple like to punch"
