Good question .... Here is what Betsy McCaughey (author of several books on ObamaCare) had to say earlier this year on FNC's show "Fox and Friends" {14JAN2013}
-- most Americans get their health insurance through work ... this will CHANGE
-- in 2014 any employer with more than 50 FT employees MUST provide the government mandated insurance coverage
-- cost to employers will COULD be twice the cost of most current plans
Current thinking now is that many employees will be either paying the penalty {which is CHEAPER than the plans} or reduce the FT staff to just PART-TIME staff ... which of course will lead to UNDERemployed workers struggling and needing to go on the government aid programs.
Lost your FT job? No problem - just PROVE that your INCOME SO FAR is enough for you to qualify for Medicare ... OR ... Go to your states Health Care Board/Exchange to get some from out of YOUR pockets!
Oh and these Exchanges will ONLY sell the GOVERNMENTS plan ... Interesting
Now you will have a "choice" of Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum plans ... BUT only the CoPays/Deductibles differ! Everything involved in the plans are the same - so it is a matter of how much comes out of your pocket either before or after the treatments.
The jest of it is that the government DICTATES to doctors what they can do and what information they must take, as well as what programs they must "force" upon you.
Cuts to Medicare pay for MORE THAN HALF the new health care plan -- seniors will get LESS health care!
So what will happen at hospitals?
Fewer seniors admitted
Nurses spread thinner ... unless the Unions put tighter reigns on the hospitals
Seniors will get $1431 LESS care per year
So where is the money going? Care or bureaucracy? BUREAUCRACY!
Not just to pay for all the new paperwork, but to train IRS workers to check for proper insurance forms &/or proof of insurance as well as how to fine people who do not qualify under the law.
Oh look -- yet another way for the government to get your money!
Bottom line?
$28 billion vs. $68 billion ... Out of the governments pocket ... Which means OUT OF YOUR POCKET
Well for all he promises we've gotten concerning the rise in jobs, economic growth, and consumer confidence - that isn't going to be the case for long since the following companies are about to have a real big issue with having more than 50 employees and HAVING to provide the government mandated health care levels for them:
§ Papa Johns Pizza (employees will be cut to less than 30 hrs/wk or layoff more)
§ Denny's (will charge 5% surcharge on bills & reduce employee hours/layoff)
§ Walmart (employees to pay +30% in premiums)
§ Methodist Medical Center
§ Aetna
§ Blue Cross Blue Shield (irony, they are one of the companies that MEET the law)
§ Kaiser Permanente
§ Community Medical Centers
§ HealthMarkets
§ Tidewell Hospice
§ Beaumont Hospitals
§ Abbott Labratories
§ Lutheran Medical Center
§ Piedmont Health Center
§ St Francis Medical Center
§ Northwest Community Healthcare
§ Mountain States Health Alliance
§ Metronic
§ Nebraska Medical Center
§ Mercy Health System
§ UCSF Medical Center (University of CA - San Fransisco?)
§ Applebee"s
§ Welch Alllyn
§ Dana Holding Corp
§ Stryker
§ Boston Science
§ Smith & Nephew
The owner of one Denny chain says that if he had to pay the $5000 fine for each employees then it would cost him $175,000 for just ONE SINGLE restaurant, and none of his restaurants make that much in a year. He would take a loss ... he will have no choice but to CUT HOURS & RAISE PRICES
Actually the irony is -- the majority of the businesses about are in the HEALTH CARE BUSINESS in some form or another.
So what will be the outcome?
well more UNDER-EMPLOYED
Less money in the economic stream
more people needing to get their OWN health care or be fined by the IRS
The Democrats are very successful at the finger pointing and saying "see - that person flip-flopped!"
well in their own words ... remember the PRESIDENT and both houses of the Democratic led CONGRESS said that health care reform, in particular the individual mandate, was NOT a TAX and that NO ONE earning less than $250,000 would see any sort of a tax increase ....
Here is how "OBAMA'S LAWYER" ((actually its the US attorney, the one who speaks on behave of the government and Congress)) argued the governments RIGHT to pass this Act:
it is "A tax law ... fully integrated into the tax system .... [that] triggers .... tax consequences for non - compliance."
The Law "imposes a tax liability .... [and] tax penalties on non-exempted individuals ..."
The "penalty operates to increase the paxpayer's total tax liability .... [and[ is valid not only as a tax in its own right, but also as an adjunct to the income tax."
Obama Administrative Brief To Supreme Court
10/26/11
So for any of those out there who thinks that Chief Justice Roberts gave the administrations lawyers the heads up as to which way to argue this case ... I think you can see that the White House was already calling it a TAX even while they where whispering in our ear while reaching up our skirts "its okay baby, its not a tax" ....
The Courts majority decision said what about this? (this was read aloud so I may miss where some redactions begins/end)
"... the funds-due, refered to as a penalty, do not alter their essential characteristics as taxes ... if the concept of a penalty means anything, it means punishment for an unlawful act or admission, and since failure to have health care insurance is NOT unlawful, therefore, it is "a tax on those who do not have health insurance"
It gets better ... in RECORDINGS from the Supreme Court hearing, Chief Justice Roberts took the Federal lawyer, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli Jr, to task:
CJR: why didn't Congress call it a tax then?
SGV: well ...
CJR: are you telling me then that they thought of it as a tax, they defended it on the tax power, why didn't they say it was a tax?
SGV: they might have thought, Your Honor, that calling it a "penalty" as they did would make it more effective in accomplishing its objectives but it is in the Internal Revenue Code, it is collected by the IRS on April 15th"
I do have an issue with how many dot-dot-dots there are in this particular quote which I found -- a lot of "sins" and truths can be hidden in those dot-dot-dots. but since lawyers are NOTORIOUS for using such devices, one would think that before such a breif goes before the Supreme Court they lawyers would have looked to see how a redaction might have looked while still keeping a grain of truth within them.
I saw a cartoon which attacked the Tea Party for not wanting the HCA by stating that the only places in the word without universal healthcare are Communist China and all of Africa ... implying that if you don't believe in healthcare you believe in oppressive regimes.
The Administration also loves to point to the Mass. Health Care which Romney helped to put in place and say "see he's for it" ... but they fail to mention that it is on a STATE LEVEL which would be perfectly LEGAL under the United States Constitution since such issues as insurance falls under States Rights not Federal {and I blame the Conservatives for letting that whole argument slide}
WOW - right after I typed that, a conservative legal analyst actually used that argument (states rights) and was SNICKERED at by the liberal legal analyst -- I'm not sure which is more stunning ... the fact that the conservatives are finally starting to understand it, or the fact that the liberals are willing to ignore those Rights too just to get what they want ...
which in my mind is more of our money to push through more dependence on government programs ...
want an idea of what you will be in for?
here is a clip from a prepper lady who I have corresponded with (ok, I comment on her videos, she writes back) quite a few times ... she is up in Canada:
Now before anyone starts going "oh its one of those crazy prepper people I've seen on TV" -- Bev, TheMrsVolfie, is actually quite down to earth, at least thats the feeling I get from her ... don't believe me? check out her videos ... I think the most "radical" Ive see on her channel is the slaughtering of her own animals - but if thats radical, then there are an AWFUL lot of radicals in this world.
for those of us who were flabbergasted by the accusations of the Clinton administration trying to use its power to get Lewinsky a job (or was it the whistle blower in the case?) to keep the Oral Office Scandal secret, what Obama and his cronies are doing blows our minds!
Now remembering that it was the President himself who accused the Supreme Court of acting unconstitutionally by even considering taking on the Health Care Law's constitutional standing ...
it seems unthought of that this same President, through his Justice Department, would now "threaten" the Medicare payments for millions of Americans!
the administration has sent letters to the Justices stating that if they strike down the INDIVIDUAL MANDATE (the part of the law that forces everyone to carry health insurance whether they wish it or not) it will cause..
" ... extraordinary disruption to Medicare's payment system if indeed the Court turns down the Medicare Reform Law {Obama Care} ...
so while accusing the Court of doing something so unheard of as to challenge a law passed by elected officials (sorry but its part of their job, Mr.Constitutional Lawyer - kinda brings into question those Harvard grades again, huh?} the White House sees no problem with THREATENING the medical care to all these seniors ... also remember that most of the judges on the USSC are probably using Medicare themselves on some level as they are above retirement age ...
wouldn't you think when the government realized that Americans weren't going to just roll over and let this happen, that they would have made provisions for what to do if they didn't win?
or are they so arrogant as to think that the Supreme Court would just roll over and beg the President to scratch their tummies?
so what exactly are we looking at here?
In 2012 Medicare will spend about $565.9 (the fiscal year that is)
this spending has grown by 9% each year since 1985 (on average)
by 2020 the cost of Medicare is expected to increase by 80% (I wonder if this is before, or after, Obama-care kicks in)
47.5 MILLION people are covered by Medicare
by 2020 they are expecting over 30 million more people to join the ranks (this has to be after Obama-care)
