Friday Freak Out

Freak Out time -- little things that 'freak me out' or make my blood boil .... like this week's annuncement that the Government who feels the need to limit the pay of CEOs of car companies ....

Are paying the Post Master General over $300,000/yr even though the Post Office is losing money, has raised postage prices nearly every year since he's been in, and the number of posted packages/letters has dropped.

Legistlators are voting themselves in raises while people in their state are losing their jobs .... the one that really tickled me this week was a story that John Kerry was going to have to start to economize and sell off a couple of his houses, but don't worry he is keeping the multi-million beach house in FL!

Does anyone else remember the grief that was given to McCain over his houses?? Sorry tangent again.

So here we have the government complaining about how much the Oil Execs are taking in, how much the CEOs of the car companies are taking in, how much the bankers are making .... how WRONG it is while they are laying people off ....

okay ....

the President makes $400.000/yr (I seem to recall them voting in a raise for him effective with Obama) ... while MILLIONS of people are out of a job and thousands are without a home.

Senators/Reps are earning hundreds of thousands plus expenses while their states are running into deficits that they can't possibly make.

Does anyone else wonder on the hypocrisy of it all??

I'm Freaking OUT about where the heck the leadership of this country is taking us ... and they worried about how Bush made us look to the world?

how the heck does this make us look?

Friday Freak Out

Oh those stock markets! First up then down, then down then up .... who knows what is going to happen?

Then we have two candidates running who seem to feel they have control over the situation -- however they really have little to do with it all except to make recommendations.

Then there is the Democrats in congress who are making the stance that if a Republican gets into office they will put the breaks on anything he proposes, and if the Democrats get in the White House then they will puss thru their agenda no matter what the People think or want.

Then there are the businesses who are looking to flee the nation should the Democrats get in power for fear of their bank-books being picked clean by taxes ...

then there are the workers who will be out of jobs and lossing their homes should the businesses leave.

We are in a terrible mess right now.

Then there are the reports that consumers are spending less -- but can you blame them the way that the politicians have been screaming that we are in the worse spot since the Great Depression ... really its not that bad, yet ... so people don't spend and the situation becomes so much worse.

AWWWWWKKKKK!!!!!

And if you think this will end after the elections -- think again ... its all just beginning.

Friday Freak Out

Okay maybe this is more like a Thursday "thought to go" .... but why is it that in a Presidential race, after the candidates have said such hurtful, hate-filled things during the primaries they can turn around and ask these people to be their VP?

someone should go back on Youtube and find the debates and see what was said about each other .... the repubs were kind of nasty with each other ... the dems seemed to only go after Bush (like he was going to be in the race).

although it did start to get a little nasty there for a while -- and real nasty when it was down to BO/HC ... but still they seemed to be running against Bush, the same way that the Repubs kept acting like they were running against BC ... but then it was Al Gore that was running - so it was more plausible that it would be 'more of the same'.

Now if only they would stick to the real issues instead of playing head-games with the American public .... yeah right. C'mon - just be honest and say 'there is no way we are going to be able to give any tax cuts without raising taxes to begin with' or 'listen, we all know that no matter what we say -- your taxes are going to go up' or 'you know, we really aren't that different from each other -- the only difference is the R or D by our name'

Wouldn't it be a kicker if McCain/Obama chose each other as running mates and all we had to do was decide which one was Pres and which was VP?

You know -- that's the way it used to be .... highest vote was Pres, second highest was VP. That's the way the forefathers had it set up!!

JKR vs. HPL

Okay - so its been a long while since I have discussed this one. For those who are out of touch and need a re-cap:

The guy that owns/runs the Harry Potter Lexicon online decided that he was going to convert into book form ... the only info he has on the site are from books & interviews ... that's it. I haven't heard if any quotes from the books will be included as they are online (I wouldn't think so though because that would be a blatant copyright violation).
Anyhow .... JK Rowlings said no (with the push from WB I'm sure).
So now the book is tied up in the court system.
The premise being that JKR is putting together her own Official Encyclopedia for release (I haven't found a date for her book yet).

I don't see the problem really.

First all the info is already out there - he just did the work in putting it all together. Second, the book that JKR is proposing will be so different being that she has boxes and boxes of info that people can't even imagine.

So will they be in 'compition' with each other? No. Let's face it, people will buy JKRs book because it will be more complete...people will buy HPL just to support a fan with a great idea.

I think this is just a publicity stunt on the WB's part ... misguided worry on JKR's part ... and a great achievement for the HPL's part.

Let him publish!!! Let him publish!!!

Its books like this that will keep the franchise going instead of it fading into receases of book stores over time. Want proof?

Star Trek.

Friday Freak Out

Okay so here's the best freakout video I've seen so far ... now watch the whole thing all the way thru.

I really like the one where they switch burgers on people. the guy that gets the Wendy's burger looks like he's about ready to strangle the kid. LOL.
They are soooo lucky no one went really bonkers.
Now if only I can figure out who the 'wendy burger' guy reminds me of .... its some stoner character I'm sure.
