I am so F'ing Sorry -- follow up

Feeling a little better: I heard this weekend that the ipod contained photos of the Queen's last visit to the US that she didn't have ... that's a tad better ... otherwise, yeah its a lame gift. Hope it came with software to get the photos off the ipod ... otherwise I could see one of the Queen's corgis teething it up and there goes the photos.

I want to apologize to the Queen of England .... look .... it is obvious that he is totally out of touch.

On the heels of his disgraceful presents to the Prime Minister of GB & family (toy helicopters & 50 DVDs which won't play on British DVD players anyhow) he has followed it up with the following:

An iPod to the Queen of England!!!!

Yes -- apparently he felt that they can not get iPods over there ... that the Queen wouldn't have one of her own already if she wanted one .... nor that the British people have evolved to the next level of portable music.

Both these gifts could be bought at the nearest Walmart ...

Just Holding Their Noses And Signing ....

Out of fear of being labelled one of the causes of a new Crash, the Senators in their usual 'never met a tax I didn't like' fashion have agreed on a stimulus bill.

On the bright side, it will cost about $100 billion less than the Democrats originally wanted.
On the darker side, here are a few things most people don't know because they either aren't paying attention or don't care ....

From "Bulls & Bears" on FoxNews:

11 million Americans out of work (no mention as to how long these people have been out of work, which means some of them could be from before the recession began)

Jobless rate jumped 7.6% in January;
Employment rate 92.4%, down from 92.8% (of working Americans)
Average work week in January: 33.3 hours/wk (statistic effected by part-time work)
Hourly earnings up 0.3% in January; $18.46/hr.

Bill will keep government & union workers in jobs, does very little for "average" American

Jobs created are only temporary, as projects are finished the workers will be unemployed again

President has said that he wants any government work to go to UNION workers

only 12% of bill will be spent on roads/bridges/schools

Construction spending down 3.6% in December (hello, its winter and construction is seasonal work)

the "shovel ready" projects proposed are far off because of the time it takes to open bids and gather product (the 35W bridge was an very large exception).

Dow Down 6% this year, but still up 3.5% this week, down 41.5% from all-time high, up 376% since 1987 crash,

Nasdaq up 7.8% this week, up 1% this year, down 44% from 10/2007 high, up 342% since 1987 crash,

S&P up 5.2% this week, down 4% this year, down 44.5% from all-time high, up 286% since 1987 crash,

Bill is 42% tax break, 58% spending

Consumer spending down 6th month in a row; personal income down 3rd month in a row
Personal savings rose 3.6% in January

will make a TRILLION dollar deficate.

Feinstein (D-CA) was going to vote against the bill, but over night and after calls from Obama and Pelosi, she now says she will vote for the bill.

Reid (D-NV) says bill isn't perfect but its the best they can do

McConnell (R-KY) says in long run bill will be same size as House bill but will leave debt for our grandchildren

Coburn (R-OK) says its the largest 'generational' theft bill in history (it will take generations to pay it off)

McCain (R-AZ) - remember him, he wanted to do this during the campaign and Obama said he was panicking?? says if this bill passes it will be a bad day for America

little money will go companies who will create jobs

does nothing to help with drop off in tax collection (since there are fewer businesses to pay taxes, less income to be taxed)

Number of Home Sale contracts up 6.3% in December
Homes most affordable since 1970!!!
30-yr fixed mortgage rate: 5.25% , down from 5.67% one yr ago

Car sales down in January, lowest in 26 years

So why is this going to pass?

1. no one wants to look like they didn't care - that might lose a vote

2. no one wants to look like they stood up against Obama - they are afraid of being labelled a 'racist' (just look at the BS during the campaign to see why they would think that)

What the Hell Happened???

So how much did this monstrosity cost? can you believe $1500??? I thought she was supposed to be one for buying for less -- boy I guess the recession has really hit them, NOT!

Michelle Obama wears $1,500 Isabel Toledo shift on Inauguration Day:
"The outfit 'was made for Michelle with extra warm linings sewn into the [innerlinings] that she wouldn't freeze,' Toledo's husband told the Daily News.

A spring version of the dress - which will retail for around $1,500 - will hit Barney's in March."
Who told her that thing would look good?? It made her look fat (which she's not), it looked like something you would see on someone's grandma! UGH! and those shoes -- GREEN???!! What were you thinking? Was it supposed to be some 'Global Warming' statement? maybe if there was just a little green in the outfit, but not by themselves - what a faux pas.

She's lucky Blackwell is dead or she would be at the top of his list for this one.

But I liked the evening gown they show in the story also ... so it wasn't a complete loss.

Here's the video, but you know, its no worse than when I got married and was so overwhelmed by emotions that I started bawling when I tried to recite the vows ~~

It was just emotions, I'm not reading anything into it ... maybe if he had said something along the lines of "service, protect, defend, and reinterprete the Constitution of the United States" I would be worried -- but he didn't, that part he got without any troubles.

Just nerves -- I'm betting he probably goofed up his marriage vows a bit too.

Inaugaration Day

I know, I know - I can't spell the word the same way twice. i have a sick kid home today so he will be able to see this historic occasion (that doesn't look like its spelled right, but spell check says it is) ... and even if I don't think he has the experience to be an effective President, he is POTUS and I will now respect the office if not the man, just like I did Bush and Clinton (at least until he disgraced the office) ...

Actually I look forward to Michelle Obama as First Lady -- I like her sense of style. She likes skirts to the knees, long sleeves, her style is very modest which I would love to see come back into American fashion, especially those of kids.

She actually reminds me a lot of Condalessa Rice who I think has a great sense of fashion as well ... I often said that I thought Condy would make a kick-ass VP as well (actually I think she's make a pretty good Prez if she had more legislative experience) mostly because I would love to see her sit in negotiations with such leaders as Amidijideran (probably spelled that wrong, but spell check didn't know who it was) or the Afghanian leaders or even South African officials and give them a peice of American 'diplomancy'.

Michelle looks like the type of lady that embodies that word - Lady - I think she will be a wonderful F.L. ... I thought Hillary was too gruff, too confrontational - not so much that she wanted to push for her programs (health care for kids), but it was the way in which she approached it like she was some elected official -- but you know she learned quickly, well semi-quickly, that Washington & the people wouldn't stand for it ... but that same 'pushiness' has served her well as Senator and it probably will again as Sec of State, if she gets the job.

My one big concern is that, like the Clinton's, the Obama's seem to have that 'finger in the wind' approach to things ... from picking the type of dog, to his keeping his Blackberry so that people can tell him when they don't like what he's doing -- at some point he has got to act Presidential and make a decision or two for himself.

Actually I'm watching coverage on MSNBC this morning and they are going over the Pres and F.L. sense of style too -- its not just me. I'm wondering what her 'cause' will be .... Clinton took on Health Care, Bush took on Literacy, Nancy took on Drugs, I don't remember what Barbara Bush did, I think Lillian Carter was Habitat for Humanity which was her hubbies main charity ... but every F.L. has left her mark in some little way --- I wonder what hers will be.

I'm hoping, because (1)I can relate and (2)because I heard this mentioned on tv ... I'm hoping she will stand up for and advocate for the Stay-At-Home-Moms .... try to get the economy, or some tax break for families that have the mother staying at home. Of course I can hear the belly-aching now about how its unfair to single moms who have to work, or the double income families, or to the single folk (which are perhaps the most boisterous group of all ... I remember when I worked having them bitch-n-moan about the fact that they didn't get as many sick days as those of us with kids ... they didn't seem to understand that while yes we got the day off, generally we took a loss of wages or used our own sick days to stay home).

I would love to see some advocacy for SAHMs ... although not every woman should be a SAHM ... there are some women, if they don't get out of the house everyday they would go stir crazy ... there are some people who don't understand that being a SAHM is more than just cooking/cleaning/letting the kids in the house.

In the 40s women had to work because so many men went off to war, in the 50s women were expected to go back into the traditional roles whether they wanted it or not, in the 60s roles for women in the work force was limited and in the 70s it blossomed ... then in the 80s more choices opened up and it became clear that you could have a career, not just a job, and a family as well ... but in the 90's (under the Clintons) it got to the point where for most families both parents HAD to work to live - we were fortunate, we got our house under the Bush Sr. administration so that during the Clinton years we were able to use it as a means so that I could stay home with the kids .... but it got close there for a while, real close ...

It was hard to believe that we were getting penalized for being married ... then to hear that they were going to cut off the kids earlier than they flew the coup - I seem to recall that my father could claim us kids until we were 21 yrs as long as we were enrolled in school full-time. Now the funds end the same year your child turns 17yrs old.

I would love to see some of those old programs come back ... tax breaks for married couples, especially the elderly (remember in the 80s when it came out that more elderly were living together than getting married because of the cut they took if they wed?) ... I would like to see the rate they get after losing a spouse stay at around 90% of their income so that they don't take a huge hit above and beyond that which they already did at the loss of a spouse - and the death-benefit OMGs, have you seen that? You get $200 to bury your loved one ... cremeation is the cheapest you can go and that is even a thousand bucks - where is an 80 yr old going to come up with the other $800??

I know the Obama's are bringing her mother to the White House with them to help care for the kids ... so perhaps Michelle will be bringing to the forefront elderly-rights. Perhaps she will take up the Senior Citizen banner ... but you never know.

The indications are that the Obama's are for stem cell research, so to me that means they are for longer life spans which would thus lead to more people becoming elderly, which means they had better start thinking of what they will do with all those people -- who knows, it may be my generation or one of my kids.

Just since Obama was a kid life expectancy has gone from 70 yrs to 80+yrs ... even Joe Biden's mom is 91 yrs old! and boy does she look spry! I mean most people won't be getting more than $33,000/yr on Social Security now ... no matter what they earned while working ... so if you are used to living on $50,000/yr how to you cut 20,000 out of your expenses??

Could you do it? I don't think anyone could cut nearly 1/2 their expenses ... try it, see how much you can snip out ... my guess is not much. I feel for the elderly. Then you have banks talking them into these 'reverse mortgages' which to me is just another scam to get a hold of people's houses - and in such a way that probate can't help a family out of it.

Oh just saw the girls ... the older girl, Sasha Malia, looks like someday she will have her own television show -- I'm telling you! I could see her with something on Disney or Nick ... something fun and trivial, nothing too political.

They make a nice first family .... but lets see how their dad does as President ... and lets hope they don't suffer too much from any bad press aimed at their dad -- kids can take things so personally.

Em-Burris-ment

Boy Illinois first had to endure Mayor Daly and his legacy of corruption .... then it is having to struggle with Blagovich (or whatever his name is) ... and now it gets to be embarrassed by possible-senator Burris.

Its not that Blago appointed him.

Its not that the US Senate had already said that it wouldn't allow ANY one appointed by Blago to represent the state.

Its not that Blago decided to go to DC anyways - and probably at the tax payers expense.

Its not that Blago decided and tried to get seated when he knew there was NO WAY he was getting into the chambers.

No the reason they get to feel embarrassment is because -- even though ANY ONE trying for that seat would have been turned away -- Burris is NOW claiming that it was a RACIST MOVE simply because he would have been the only black senator this round (I can't believe that though) ....

This just proves to me that he was chosen not because of what he can bring to the seat but rather that he can be easily lead to what others want him to do. After all they started screaming the race-card before he even got to DC - from the moment that his name came out -- it was like he was chosen because he would claim racism.

This whole thing should make every Illionite hang their head in great shame!!!

it would be different IF it had been a special election and he had won it .... it would have been different if Blago hadn't been under investigation for ALLEGIEDLY trying to sell the seat .... it would have been different if he had ran in the regular election ... all that would be a totally different story ....
IF any of that had happened then, yes, he would probably have a legitimate claim or at least a strong question as to why.

People have totally lost the meaning of what constitutes 'racism' and what doesn't --- just because you are of a certain race, gender, or sexual orientation and something disagreeable happens does NOT make it a racist act.

Burris is 70 yrs old --- I have no doubt that in his life-time he has ran into REAL racism ... he should know better than to use it as the excuse for everything that doesn't go his way -- its like crying 'wolf' ....

soon it gets to the point where when something REAL happens, people will discount it as 'just another claim' ...

OHHHHH this burns my britches. OBAMA needs to come out and say to the nation that its NOT racism or else it will look as if he supports the claims - and he should know that's not the issue.

Good thing the Democrats will be bringing back a sense of respectability to politics -- with the Republicans in charge we were the laughing stock of the world. [in case you couldn't tell .... I was being sarcastic there]



Now leave Jesse alone - he tried to cut property taxes. The way he restructured things really opened people's eyes to where their money was going, and why it was that the taxes went up each year no matter what happened with your property.

Actually, for this particular election it probably would have been a better way to do it.

Talk Show Sunday

Okay - didn't want to make this Movie Monday stuff ... but this should scare EVERY American, no matter income, race, religion, party ... because we are seeing this attitude all over the place and it needs to be squalshed now.






so did Tom Brokaw jump on that turn of phrase? Of course not -- no one dares say anything against messiah Obama (they are already talking about giving him a special holiday - ranking him up there with Lincoln, Washington, and MLK - he ain't done nothin' yet!!!)

Is it a slip of the tongue ... of course ... but I really feel they feel that is what he will do. RULE.

He won't have anything to do with the Supreme Court other than appointing judges - so she didn't mean 'rule' that way, legaleeze.

The President GOVERNS a king RULES -- we are America we do not have a King .... nor do we have a Chancelor like Germany did in WW2 ... nor do we have an Emporer ... nor a Supreme Leader ...

Have I heard anything from Obama that makes me think he would agree with this statement of her's .... no. I have from PELOSI but not Obama - I will give him that much.

okay I've been looking for this clip .... and I listened to it carefully to see if Biden was just miss understood ... but he did lower the upper-class from $250,000 to $150,000

This means that most double income families where at least one of the partners has a post-high school degree will be getting nailed with their tax hike ....

so here's another question which they have never answered, mostly because I've never heard it asked ... will student loans be considered 'income'? Reason I ask is because those going to college, especially law or medical school, get thousands of dollars a year in loans ... not all for school ... not all who get it for school use it for school.

McCain had a great quote at one of his rallies today:

"every once in a while Biden veres of course and runs into the truth"

That's about it too.

there is a total of 9 clips of being late, and 1 of being interrupted for a phone call ... now these are just the clips that could be found -- geez, its a good thing he is taking his position on the commission so seriously that he made sure that he was there to hear the testimony.

I don't know about you -- but if someone takes the time, whether voluntarily or subpeona, to get there butts in those chairs and their testimony is important -- then I feel the Senators had best get their butts there on time as well.

This is the Laise Faire governing that got us into so much financial debt as it is (by the way, most of that national debt had to be approved by Congress, don't be fooled by them blaming just the President)

My Opinion Matters

okay - so for the first time since I've been voting (less than 30 yrs) I actually had the chance to do one of those national phone polls.

YES ... the best part is that I notice that shortly afterwards .... after they obviously changed their polling area ... that the polls have really swung the other way .... okay not completely but at least this time they are showing what is closer to the truth and that the Presidential race is closer than they thought.

Of course it could be that they changed the group of people polled so that people who would tend to vote Democrat wouldn't go 'Obama's got it in the bag, my vote won't count' ... instead they are hoping the McCain supporters are going to do that - which could very well happen.

People who tend to vote repubican seem to live in areas where weather can effect poll turn outs -- yes even in my state of snow-hearty people, if it rains people don't want to go out (fools).

HEY if you don't vote -- I don't want to hear ANY complaints about how much money is going to what company, who is getting the bonuses, or how much tax is being taken from your paycheck ..... I don't want a word spoken about Supreme Court appointees, laws pushed thru congress, or how there isn't any one in the White House with a spine stiff enough to stop it.

Movie Monday

... well sort of.

Actually its a clip I ran into on YouTube thru Drudgereport where in a 2001 radio interview, Obama is talking about how Redistribution of Wealth should have been a part of the Civil Rights movement and how it would have to be done on the Legislative side of the government -- in fact it refers to it as the Government State ... hmmm, isn't that how the USSR referred to themselves?? -- while the Presidency is part of the Executive Branch of government, if you have been paying attention you would know that in ads both parties make it sound as if it is part of the Legislative branch.



Anyhow - the way he states it, his 'Redistribution" is nothing more than the old concept of 'Reparations' ,... I think this is important to get out there - especially in a political field where simple words are getting charged as being 'code words' for racist remarks when they have nothing to do with it (some one please tell me how the words 'socialist' & 'civil organizer' can be racist?)

ELECTION 2008

Actually I did not link to this article because of the Michelle link ... it was because, believe it or not, Buchanan makes a really valid point about Bidens recent warning/statement about an impending international crisis "testing" Obama ...

What if 'SNL' mocked Michelle Obama?:
"This is an astonishing statement from a chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee who has access to the same intelligence as George Bush. Joe was warning of a crisis like the Berlin Wall of July 1961, where JFK called for a tripling of the draft and ordered a call-up of reserves, or the missile crisis where U.S. pilots like John McCain were minutes away from bombing nuclear missile sites in Cuba and killing the Russians manning them."
Yeah. That ought to make everyone prick their ears. And for two different reasons....

1)Biden has access to all the intelligence that goes across the Presidents desk -- he knows things that most of us don't, he see things that go cross-departmental so that if they don't link it together he might.

2)He invoked JFK and compared the crisis to the one he faced. Maybe this is why Obama has said that he would make women sign up for selective service too. There are little bits of info that if you listen to it one would get the feeling that the Democrats are going to reinstate the draft.

Yes I said it. DRAFT. INDUCTION. We are talking about people being FORCED to serve in the armed forces ... not just Community Service the way the Clinton's wanted us to do, not like Bush urged people to do after 9/11 instead of running out and joining the service on a whim ...

Don't be surprised if that extended education doesn't come with some khaki colored strings attached to it ... actually it will probably be more like Cuba where they are khaki colored chains.
Don't be surprised if suddenly our sons & daughters will have to serve in the armed forces as part of their citizenship.

Don't get me wrong -- I love the Armed Forces .... I support them fully ... and if it came time for a draft I would probably support that too (there are times where I feel the nation has the right to impose upon its citizens to stand up) ... BUT I also believe in a VOLUNTEER force.

I mean a full volunteer force not like these ones who join the Reserves to get the education benefits and then bitch-n-moan when its time to actually go into service because it wasn't what they signed up for .... YES IT IS - it is not the countries fault that you didn't pay attention to what was being said.

oh wait - that's the same thing I said about the loan crisis ... hmmm, maybe its just the whole accountability thing that gets me. Its like signing up for a credit card w/o reading the fine print and then getting pissed when you find there's a yearly fee ... or buying bonds and then finding there's a penalty if you cash them in early and getting mad about it ... you have to learn to ask questions. This is not like getting your car towed and then finding there are all these fees that don't seem to have anything to do with the actual towing.

So hug your kids today ... for tomorrow, well after November, they may be going off to war. Expect it -- prepare for it -- because its coming ... remember it was a war that got us out of the Great Depression and the Democrats love to compare the current economic situation to the Great Depression!!

Reporter: So do you want to encourage him to pull in his spending plans?

Frank: I think at this point there needs to be a focus on an immediate increase in spending.
I think this is one time were deficit fear needs to take a second seat.
I believe later on there should be tax increases ...
I think there are an awful lot of rich people out there whom we can tax at a point down the road, and recover some of this money.

Election 2008

The Biden-Gaff Machine goes into over drive -- and people will ignore it....

JOE D'OH PUTS O IN 'CRISIS' MODE - New York Post:
"Joe Biden warned that America's enemies would test Barack Obama with an
international crisis within six months if he's elected president
- a shocking
comment John McCain eagerly pounced on yesterday to claim Obama isn't ready to
be commander-in-chief."
So basically what he is saying is:

A) Our 'enemies' see Obama as a weak President
B) Within 6 months we will have another terrorist attack
C) other countries are going to 'test' our power in the world
D) McCain wouldn't be challenged

Actually this doesn't surprise me -- it just seems to be the way of histoy that Democratic Presidents always seem to be the ones who get us into troubles.

Kennedy set things up so that Johnson had no choice but to go into VietNam ... then there was the whole Hostage situation during Carter .... and the first WTC bombings and the USS Cole under Clinton (and the failed attempt 10 months earlier -- oops, guess he should have paid attention to that one) ... Kennedy & Cuba & Viet Nam & the Berlin Wall ... Truman had China & Korea ... etc etc ... the list goes on.

Now this isn't to say the the Repubs haven't been 'tested' by enemies either, of course they did. Its just that most Presidents didn't get challenged until after they had been in office a couple of years ... now we have one that will be challenged straight out the gate??

Now FDR ... he really had no choice but to get us into WW2 - so I'm not going to count that one against them. It was morally right for him to get into that war.

Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich, whose administration faces multiple federal investigations over how it handed out jobs and money with advice from Rezko, is considered the most vulnerable.

Rezko, 53, a real estate developer, was convicted in June of scheming to use his clout with the Blagojevich administration to squeeze $7 million in kickbacks out of a contractor and seven money management firms seeking to do business with the state.

[ginger interjects: there is no mention as to how long the strip of land was, but water front property goes for 100,000/linear foot ... this seems more than a touch assessive in my opinion]

But that's okay -- don't you know that Clinton has already set the precedence that if you are being sought after for a crime all you should do is run & win the presidency at any cost and then they can't touch you ... and you can use the nation's resources in order to cover your butt???

Now I don't know about the rest of you ... but I think there is enough questionable 'friends' in Obama's life to make one start to wonder what kind of man he really is.

I can't imagine having that many friends of questionable background and not being part of it too.

Election 2008

Okay so I've been watching the Town Hall Meeting for McCain/Palin (one of those rare times when they are together) and was finding it on CNN and Foxnews, but MSNBC was still doing their regular 'beat up the President' programming.

They did finally jump in -- as soon as the question of Abortion came up and only during that portion -- then as the anchor was throwing it to a commercial she summed it up as a McCain/Palin rally focusing on economics, national security, but "especially on abortion" -- what???

The topic came up because some guy in the audience ASKED about it because it was never asked at the debate.

Now MSNBC needs to stop trying to pass itself off as 'neutral' and 'fair' and 'non-partisan'.

Actually watching the Town Hall gathering --- this is what people wanted in the last debate ... what you saw on national tv was not a Town Hall debate -- it was too planned, it was too controlled .... in a Town Hall debate the majority of the questions should come from the audience members, the mic gets passed from person to person and the questions that come up are the ones that get answered, not the ones that the candidates are comfortable with.

MSNBC: They did give Palin props for being a great campaigner ... then they turned around and attacked McCain (rather his wife) over pointing out that Obama voted against funding the troops because the bill he voted against did not contain a time table - it was a straight funding bill .... why did they call it hypocritical? because McCain voted against the form of the bill that did contain the time table -- which I don't blame him for voting against.

Interesting thing, the anchorwoman (andrea something) came up just short of saying Palin and Cindy McCain where becoming [word for female dog]es during the campaign because they are so passionate in their views.

Interesting. Bet she wouldn't make such implications towards Hillary or Pelosi or any other woman Democrat who are just as passionate

interesting story on CNN -- they actually exposed the difference in the medical records .... McCain +11000 pages ... Obama 1 page.

Obama campaign has said that no records would be released and they would not answer the question as to whether health is a legitamate question.

You have to wonder what they are hiding ... the short statement from Obama's dr says he has been seen regualarly for 'upper respitory' matters, 'skin rashes', and ... drat, forgot the rest ... but you have to wonder what is in his records that they won't release them, yet they bucked at McCain's letting reporters only see his records for a limited time.

But if they think health is such a big deal - and they must because they keep bringing up McCain's age and how Palin is only 'one heartbeat away' - then why aren't they releasing Obama's health records???
