Okay so I finally got that order from Jimmy Beans (did I write about that yet? I might have but it could be in Draft form....anyways).
So now I have the yarn I've been waiting for and I am not disappointed....now I know what all the fuss is about. My only problem is that it is thinner than I had anticipated.
I thought it was Sport weight and it turns out to be Fingering weight...this makes a bit of difference. If I use the size 3 needles my pattern calls for it will be too lacy....if I go down in size and use a different, plainer pattern (which this yarn really calls for) then I will have to make each sock 100sts wide.
Tediece but it will make a good fabric. The yarn has some really good bounce to it and it has survived 3 test swatches for gauge already and it still hasn't lost its twist--hard to believe its wool...well mostly wool.
And it doesn't rub my fingers raw either like the WoolEase does.
Well now I have to rethink my pattern...something that works with a self striping yarn but isn't too plain...but not too complicated either or the striping effect will be thrown off.
Such a beautiful yarn!! I have to admit that I am finding myself wondering how I can scrimp on the yarn so I can keep some of it. LOL
