Groups struggle to tally Myanmar's dead - Yahoo! News: "The Democratic Voice of Burma, a Norway-based dissident news organization,"
Okay I have to admit I was pretty dumb to the situation in Myanmar the last time I wrote about it, but this is getting serious...real serious, real fast! So where the hell is the UN now???
Now you might be wondering why I chose the quote from above...well its been my understanding that there is a bit of something missing from the teachings about WW2 and that is the actual history of it all.
The reason I chose this clip is because it mentions that the news organization that is doing the reporting is coming out of Norway.
Now if you aren't familiar with Norway's role during the war, here's a quick and dummied down version. The vast majority of Norwegians were against Germany and wanted to enter the war on the side of the Allied forces, however they had elected in a PM (?) who had decided that the best way to kee his country from getting trampled over by the Nazies was to give into them.
So as soon as he came to power he basically said "Hey, you're welcomed here, just don't hurt us"....please see the Fox & Scorpion story earlier...this time Quisiling plays the Fox, Hitler the scorpion...well needless to say the people became virtual slaves in their own country and they started a great resistance movement that people rarely talk about.
Here are a couple of clips of a Capra documentary/propraganda film discussing it--caution (a)they are long-53 mins each (b)it shows some actual footage of the period, warts and all:
"Why We Fight:The Battle Of Britian, Chapter 4"
"Why We Fight:Divide & Conquer, chapter 3"
(I've been having problems getting the flash vids from archive.org linking properly, so if they do not work the clickable links should)
But ever since then Norway has been very strongly against anything that might smack of anything even close to Nazism...and I have to say this sounds a lot like the first years behind German lines...it looks a lot like Viet Nam and Korea....it looks a lot like China during Japanese occupation.
Its scary!
