Deal Reached on Tax Rebates for Stimulus
I do not have a new story to link to but I'm watching Pelosi live on tv. Who seems to take great pleasure in the fact that the US treasury sect. and the president said that the package had to begin in the house, and the constitution says so....like its some big deal that it had to start with her! It had to start with anyone who was speaker of the house!

She also said that the purposal will get money into the hands of people who don't pay into taxes and didn't qualify for past rebates before. She also praised the fact that it was temporary--now if only they would take that stand on taxes!

Earned income of $3000 you get $300, Above $3000 until you get to where you pay $300 will get the $300.

Earned income where you pay $301 - $600, you get $600 for singles, $1200 for couple Up to incomes of $75,000 individuals.

Each child gets $300, up to $1200.

I don't understand if its $1200 total or just for the kids portion (which is what I'm hoping for)

Is supposed to help 16o million Americans ("10's of millions" she said...when her number was corrected she just laughed it off---that's why democrats can't be put in charge of money!)

I still don't like the fact that people who don't pay in are getting a "rebate"....that's not a rebate, that's a handout!

Pelosi wanted more money for food stamps and extending unemployment...in some ways I can see it, but in other ways I can't.
The majority of people who are on unemployment will not begin to hunt for a new job until after they have nearly used all their unemployment...while adding benefits may help them when they have limited income, it won't get them out there any faster.
