"Marrone said his client got eight stitches for a cut over his eyebrow.
Then, Marrone said, emergency room staffers insisted on examining his rectum
and held him down while he begged, 'Please don't do that.' He said Persaud hit a
doctor while flailing around and staffers gave him an injection, which knocked
him out, and performed the rectal exam."
Okay this is akin to rape with a foreign object. He was awake and talking and in full control of his facilties when they asked him to do it. The can't just knock him out and do it after that!
I'm sure this would have been a different story had it come about to save his life---BUT either way it was already determined. There isn't even a mention of the dr.s getting a hold of his next of kin to sign a waiver.
This is wrong.
There are procedures in place for getting a court order etc to have it done if the patient says no.
This is a kin to having the cops come to your house without a warrent wanting to search it and then when you refuse they knock you out and do it anyways.
NO!!!!
I hope the entire staff involved from orderly to dr gets dumped by the hospital.
By the sounds of it....the staff never told him about it being a way of checking until AFTER the procedure was over--but you know....I'm no dr....but how is checking out someone's prostate an indication of a spinal injury? If he got hit in the head-the damage would have been higher up in the spinal column unless he took a fall after being hit...but there's no mention of that.
