Okay new details of the upcoming visit:
It will take place at the "Target Center" (very appropriate, more at end) in the "late afternoon"...tickets are NOT needed but will expadite entrance into the event....and they are ONLY available at the campaign offices.
Okay why is the Target Center appropriate???
Sharon Sayles Belton was the first black/female mayor of Mpls.
The Target Center used to be privately owned by...you guessed it Target....they however couldn't make a go of it as the local basketball team which it was designed for (the Timberwolves) can't play worth a shit and wasn't filling the seats.
So they threatened to close the center leaving the Timberwolves with no place to play (it was an empty threat really) but Sharon Sayles Belton who was a big Timberwolves fan decided to use city money to BUY the stadium---such a bad move....it set up such a bad precidence (keep reading).
The cost never came up to a vote by the people of the city.....but they did have to okay the sales tax to pay for it (otherwise it would have been tacked onto the city's protion of their property tax anyways)....but it really hurt her politically....in fact it killed any chances she had of being re-elected.
The purchase of the building was supposed to "save" jobs in the downtown area which 'depend' on the business brought by people going to games at the stadium...it didn't work, they STILL lost the jobs. The foot traffic just wasn't there---no one wants to eat where they might get mugged.
So instead they got this guy--RT Rybek---who made political-hay out of the Target Center buy out and won the race. So what has he done? Well lets see there is the Light Rail Train which he helped to push thru the state legislature (that is syphoning money), he pushed for the building of the Gopher stadium (at tax payers funding, not to mention the loss of business land via eminent domain), and bullied owners of land in the downtown area so that the Minnesota Twins can get a new stadium on the tax-payers dime (the owners got way below 'fair market value' for the property--so they 'redefined' what fair-market-value was).
But it is just appropriate that the possible first black Presidential candidate will be speaking in the albetross stadium purchased by the first black/female Mayor of the city.....after all, he will be an albetross of a president.
I'm sorry----I just don't think he has enough political experience under his belt at this point.
If its any consolation....I don't think Hillary does either!
