Double dipping? 'Seinfeld' was right - Yahoo! News
I can't believe they needed a study to find this out!
So the question is, and not stated in the story, how many of those bacteria were in the dips before the people started dipping? Does it change if you don't double-dip?
Everyone knows that just breathing sends mucus in the air....just talking deposits bits of spit everywhere in front of you. And a cough or sneeze can send your body fluids & DNA matter up to 6 foot in any direction.
Cool experiment:
Get an empty spray bottle (the kind used for mix your own cleaners, not a hairspray pump or anything) and fill it will water---just plain water, so be sure the bottle is unused---now put it on a semi-fine mist (not the stream but not quite the thin mist either).
Now holding the spray near your mouth but facing away from you and not moving spray the bottle....that's how far the average cough travels.
You can do the same with a sneeze but you will need to do two things--make the spray less misty and move your head in a downward jerk as you would in a sneeze.
No cheating, squeeze the trigger hard! I heard that the speed of the average sneeze is close to the speed of sound.
