"'Al understands, and the people of Minnesota understand, the difference between what a satirist does and what a senator does,' Franken campaign spokesman Andy Barr said. 'It's unfortunate that she's trying to create divisions in our party rather than working with other DFLers (Minnesota Democrats) to take on the special-interest senator.'You have got to love it. The party that touts itself the defenders of free-speech is saying that only counts for certain people about certain things.
Two other Minnesota Democrats in the House, Keith Ellison and Tim Walz, also expressed concerns about the 2000 satirical article that Republicans began circulating last week. None of the critical House members called on Franken to step aside."
But what really made me laugh was when the reporter called Ellison & Walz 'unimportant' or rather 'uncritical members' of the party.
Yeah, uncritical -- that would be why there was such a controversy about Ellison's swearing in where he used the Koran instead of the bible ... yes he is that politican!
In the article Franken admits that his 12 yr old son surfed the web for finding out about bestiality (sex with animals) ... so one has to also wonder -- why is a 6th grader doing a report on Bestiality for school??? This had to be when he was living in New York.
Oh yeah. We really want that kind of thinking in MN *note the sarcasim there, folks*
I'm telling you, if Franken gets in it will be for only two reasons (1)he's running on the DFL - if he can't win on the DFL ticket in MN he's an idiot (2)the DFL will make it sound like he is running against Bush, not Coleman. He will not win based on his stance or his ideals.
Straight out run against Coleman, without bringing up Bush? Coleman would mop the floor with him.
I have got to find a copy of this article now -- I'm kind of interested. You know other politicians have been interviewed by Playboy, but one has to wonder if any had written for them.
hmmm.
