"It wasn't immediately clear how hackers broke into Palin's Yahoo! account, but it would have been possible to trick the service into revealing her password knowing personal details about Palin that include her birthdate and ZIP code. A hacker also might have sent a forged e-mail to her account tricking her into revealing her own password."so now the AP is covering criminal acts?
Anyhow, they should check Palin's computers ... when our kids first sstarted getting on the internet we though about getting this cheap device that recorded every keystroke they made.
it was supposed to attach between the keyboard and the computer station, and was made so that you wouldn't know it was there unless you were specifically looking for it. Its easy to install and didn't give any indication to the user that it was even on .... great tool for parents, actually.
but you wouldn't be able to see the other side of any online chats, just what was coming off the keyboard.
and they were cheap -- I think around $100.
But if Palin has a cleaning crew (and one can imagine that the Alaskan governor's office would) then they could easily slip one on and off without anyone knowing -- after all, how many times to they do the cleaning while anyone is there? Most cleaning crews I know of work after hours.
once you take the device off the computer you are checking on, you can upload the information into a text document and then see whatever they have done on line. you can see who they emailed, get an idea of any conversations from their side of it, find passwords (you won't get the ** like you do on screen,, you were supposed to actually get the password), even credit card info if it had to be put in.
I don't know if these devices are still for sale out there -- we decided against it ... somehow it just didn't seem right - even on our own kids.
