Q&A: Kirk Douglas:
"THR: Unlike during the Cold War, I hear complaints nowadays that, in Hollywood, you can lean as far left as you like but you're chastised for leaning right. So how does he explain so many right-leaners having to keep their politics to themselves .... how does he explain how many people have been 'removed' from pictures for 'creative differences' ... even stars like Kevin Farley and Schwarzeneggar have said there are problems with political chastizing in Hollywood.
Douglas: I think that's a lot of crap. Did Ronald Reagan get chastised? Does Arnold Schwarzenegger?
THR: But my question applies not to established celebrities but to politically conservative crew members and struggling artists who say they no longer participate in political discussions at work because when they do they're belittled by liberal co-workers who vastly outnumber them.
Douglas: I have made almost 90 pictures. I have never known about any struggling artist or behind-the-scenes crew members that suffered for their political beliefs. That is news to me."
But to answer Mr. Douglas' question of why Arnold hasn't had the same problems? Can we say 'Kennedy Clan'??
And Reagan? He was a democrat at the time, sweetie -- he didn't turn Republican (or maybe he didn't show his true Republican self) until after he left the main hollywood scene. And yes, even he said there were issues in Hollywood.
You turn the blind=eye all you want ... but those on the outside see the problems with it all.
