"He deserves better. His presidency was far more successful than not. And there's an aspect of his decision-making that merits special recognition: his courage. Time and time again, Bush did what other presidents, even Ronald Reagan, would not have done and for which he was vilified and abused."Okay - let's see what they give Bush credit for (their order not mine)
1. Not signing the Kyoto Treaty
2. Enhanced Interrogation of Terrorists
3. Rebuilding of Presidential Authority
4. Unswerving Support of Israel
5. No Child Left Behind
6. Promoting Democracy in Europe & Mid-East
7. Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
8. Roberts & Alto on the Supreme Court
9. Strengthening Relations with Asian Democracies
10. The Surge
Now many of you may not agree with all of these - I know I don't ... but give it a few years, I'm sure Al Gore will be taking credit for the ones that do get looked upon favorably by history.
I'm not so sure that "No Child Left Behind" was such a good deal. after all. all it really did was have the kids 'taught to the tests' instead of really learning ... it is as bad as the OBE system our state came up with years ago (Outcome Based Education) in which if one student didn't understand it, then the whole class had to wait while that kid caught up .... sounded great at the time, but the application was horrid.
some of them are a real stretch and opinionated -- like supporting Israel ... there will be some who think its a bad thing because the US could never be seen as neutral in any thing in the Mideast ... some say its good because we are helping them stand up for their rights .... I'm a little bit of both -- I don't always agree with what Israel does, but then if it happened here, what would we do?
like I said -- this isn't MY list, I just clarified what they were burying in rhetoric
