Racism -- only a white thing??

Okay so I was watching one of our local mid-day news programs when I caught this blip about Sonamayor ... they were saying that people are complaining that she is guilty of 'reversed racism' - and the anchorwoman, who happens to be a minority, asks "but can a minority be guilty of racism?"

WHY NOT???

Here's what they reported:
They used Rush Limbaugh as an example of a racist. I will admit that he is stupid ... okay he has turned into a real ass in my opinion ... but there are better examples out there that are 'party' neutral (something you need to know about this station, its very very very anti-Republican ... I don't think they have a single on in front of the camera)

There are people who feel that white people can be discriminated against but they can't be a victim of racism because they don't have 'power' ...

They looked at FBI stats of hate crimes -- they of course didnot point out that if you have a crime against you because you are white, it does not count those as 'hate crimes'

so they concluded that RACISM can only be committed by those in power ... and if you are white you immediately have the power.

WRONG!!!!

I grew up in the turbulant time of civil rights/liberites of the 60s & 70s ... trust me ... there is problems on all sides.

ANY TIME when someone is being judged by, or acted upon, a persons race -- despite the race -- it is racism.

If you go for a job and you don't get it just because you are of European/Hispanic/Latino/Asian/Afro-Carribean decent --- that's racism.

If you don't get an apartment based an stereotypes of your race ... its racism.

I don't care if the boss is a minority or not .... there are minority owned businesses out there who will not hire a white person because they want to give people of their own race a leg up ... that's racism too --- in fact, its racism to the MAX.

can a minority be guilty of 'racism'? YES.

It has nothing to do with "power" it has everything to do with only seeing the color of ones skin or their ancestery.

A good rule of thumb is --- if ONE race can't do it ... NO RACE should do it.

And not realizing this little FACT -- will suffer our decendants with this crap for eons to come!

Racism is a living organism ... it is no respector of race, wealth, parentage, heritage, or social standing ... it is something that there is no vaccine for ... there is no better weapon than knowing what it is and recognizing it in all its forms.

Including REVERSE RACISM as they call it -- but really its just Racism.
