I figured it out!

He came out right after the markets closed on Wall Street -- I bet he is avoiding the markets reaction to his speech (which normally FALLS like a rock after he talks) that makes sense but then why have the reporters waiting around for so long.

So let me get this straight you had to cancel someone else's speech for a 10 minute one of your own?? to say what, nothing? basically he told the press to back off the health care issue for a while.
