Because at the last big televised (are they ever not televised) "town hall meeting" he had about Health Care they stacked the questions with all favorable ones ... in fact they have even found that one of them (the one that Obama promised to get her help with her bills) is a former campaign worker...well she worked for "Organizing for America" which is Obama's political operation in the DNC -- yeah, he didn't know her (remember the shot of Monica that no one peiced together??)
Here's what the reporters said:

Press Secetary: (garbled)
R1: ... but its not ...

R1: based on the information your staff gave us on how the audience and questions are being selected
PS: How 'bout we do this? I promise to interupt the AP's tradition to ask the first question, I will let you ask me questions tomorrow as to whether you thought the questions at the Town Hall Meeting that the President conducted in Annandale ...

R2: I'm amazed at you people who call for openess and transparency and control.
In case you can't figure this one out --- the Press is feeling as if the new administration is trying to control them, not just based on what info gets out of the WH but also how the info is being presented or scurried into some dark corner someplace.
Helen Thomas has been working the WH since the Johnson administration, so she has seen bad Presidents and worse Presidents, and maybe one good President some where in there ... she knows when the WH is trying to super-analretentively-control the Press!!!
Hmmm ... you know they say if you are going to become a DICTATOR they first thing you need to do is get complete control of the press.
