We've heard it before, but I have a feeling we the public are still going to have to bend over, lube it up and spread the cheeks ...
The rumor is that the Health bill isn't going to pass because not enough "Blue Dog" dems (the centrists, conservative branch of the Dems) were consulted in the drafting of it ... Jim Cooper says there are 7 Democratic Senators are sticking to their guns battling Pelosi on the contents of the bill. Reportedly at the meetings between Dem leaders and the "Blue Dogs", Pelosi's only defense of the bill was "its a good bill, its a good bill" - hmmm, so what aren't they telling us about it this time??
Rep. Mike Ross (D-AK) is quoted as saying "...there's n way they can pass the current bill on the house floor. not even close." (but that isn't saying much ... I'm thinking he wants it more liberal).
Chris Dodd said "We spend more and get less for our Health Care system than Americans deserve. " okay .... I'm thinking he meant to be talking about the system now ... but he should try to go to Canada ... they pay way more and get even less than American's do.
Now lets also get this straight, when the goverment says that this new health care is going to 'reduce costs' they are only talking about those on the government insurance plan ... those with regular HMO, PPO, or Private Insurance - they are screwed because they will now have to pick up the slack so that drs/nurses/etc can make a decent living wage.
Then there are the State Governors who are getting concerned as they look at what this Health Care bill will bring to their already hurting states ... being scared that they will be running into the same situation as Mass. is where hospitals will threaten not to accept the plan due to lack of payment.
Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D-MT) says he and other Governors are concerned over yet another unfunded mandate which will end up being pushed onto the overly burdened taxpayer. He felt that if congress wants to reform health care then they should figure out what the rules are going to be and how they are going to pay for it before they even consider pushing foward.
Gov. Jim Douglas (D - VA) says he's worried the bill might impose a cost that states can't absorb at a time when state budgets are "under tremendous stress"
Very good.
Finally someone is starting to stand up and let the blood back to their brains.
Health Care Reform ... not a good plan if the country is in a crunch -- lets fix the problems we have before making a new one. Lets not take a bath before we get the drain hooked up, okay??
