International ... relations?

KSTP TV - Minneapolis and St. Paul - Scotland Frees Terminally Ill Lockerbie Bomber:

"Scotland freed the Lockerbie bomber on compassionate grounds Thursday, allowing the terminally ill man to die in his homeland of Libya and rejecting American pleas for justice in the attack that killed 270 people."

Why would Scotland do this? How "compaasionate" was this man when he set the bomb on the plane?

Let the man die in jail! He should not know a moment of "freedom" before dieing -- why should he get one last time to visit his family & friends before he dies when he denied that to everyone of his victims - which included innocent children?

I'm sorry but this man is a kin to a mass-murderer in my mind ... and he should be treated as such -- there is not a person on Earth who has an ounce of grey-matter who would let a mass-murderer back into society!

Well - I guess a 'life sentence' is just an 'almost life sentence' in Scotland.

I have to wonder how many other prisoners have been released because they have only a few months to live .... to me - this is just putting a new suicide bomber out there, after all - he has NOTHING to lose.

I could see transferring him to a Libyan prison, to have him serve out the rest of his sentence ... but to let him free on his own accord? Where the heck is the justice in that?

I think the move is more of an attempt to appease those UK citizens who have swallowed the conspiracy theory hook-line-and-sinker!
