So the government wants to take over our health care ....
hmm, so what do you think it will be run like?
CASH (Cash for Clunkers) where the paperwork bogged things down so badly that people were being left stranded at the dealerships with no way off the lots ... where the site which gave the okays was crashing nearly everyday .... where people who thought they were qualified (in the beginning) were suddenly being told that they didn't qualify and would either have to return the new car or come up with the funds?
or do you think it will be more like the Post Office where they are going to be running short of funds yet again this year?? So much so that they have to 'buy-out' 30,000 employees?
The USPS is the biggest government civilian-employer in the US (yes more than the IRS) and has a payroll of more than 700,000 employees - serving more than 150 million homes/businesses - but it is fully paid for by mailing fees...no tax money - it is supposed to be completely self-sustainable.
Well they are facing a loss of 7BILLION for this year -- remember the big scandal about how much the Post Master General of the US made last year when the USPS was in the red? I think it was something lke $300,000 base plus incentives?
So they are offering employees $15,000 to leave their employment ... they figure it will save them nearly $500,000,000 over the next two yesrs (that's 1/2Billion) -- but they are not thinking they will have to close any offices on the weekends/mondays as they had been talking at one point.
Instead they are putting 50,000 more people on the unemployment lines. Oh yeah, that makes sense. Sounds like they are thinking it will be effecting those going into retirement first - hey age discrimination - but there was nothing said about whether they woud be replaced with younger, cheaper help.
