For the second time since his taking office ... well at least its the second time that I know of ... the White House Press Corps is taking President Obama to task - last time it was for 'stacking questions' and this time it is for the appearance of it having been done yet again!!
Remember when they had all that controversy over that one reporter for the online blog page who was asking the sweetheart questions during the Bush administration and how the liberals jumped all over it and this poor guys life was ruined?
Karma, man. What goes around comes around. Glass Houses, and all those appropriate cliches.
Now Obama is being slammed .... and I have to say, like Bush, I'm not completely convinced that he is in on this horse-n-pony show .... while he may be benefiting from it, I'm thinking maybe this stuff is going on behind the scenes.
Although there were a few things that should have tipped him off.
Like the 11 yr old girl who got to ask a question -- her parents were large campaign supporters and even traveled with the Obama's on the campaign trail ... and they weren't the little people behind the scenes, they were (reportedly) big fund raisers so he surely knew them and their family. You can't tell me that Obama didn't recognize him.
The WH Press Sec, Robert Gibbs, doesn't do a very good job and disarming/dissuading the WH press from jumping all over him either == that was the great thing about Tony Snow, he did a great job at keeping the press in check without getting disrespectful ... maybe it was the fact that he was once a member of the press so he knew how to approach them, maybe it was just that he was a very likable guy.
Gibbs tends to fall back on the 'us against them' and the 'media is just out for sensationalism' ... and I think that is just pissing them off even more.
(Gibbs did make a statement about Obama getting his butt reamed out - I don't recall anything like that in the news, but then I've been out of touch for the last couple of weeks)
interesting question from one of the reporters was if this (the massive outburst against the healthcare bill) was one of the reasons he wanted this thing passed before the August recess of congress .... Gibbs says no-Obama was just concerned that more people would be discrim. against because of a pre-existing condition ...
yeah, right. You know damn well that Obama is still in Senator mode ... and he really is, has there been a day when he hasn't given a speech or taken a trip away from the WH? .... and we have seen the way the Senate is working under Pelosi -- the dems are being about as 'bi-partisan' as the repubs are, which is very little .... and the people are the ones getting hurt.
Gibbs says the computers pick people at random (for getting tickets for events)- well anyone who has worked with computers knows that's not true ... computers work by algorithms which can be figured out ... and you can bet there's some screening going on there too - after all they ain't about to let someone in to a Town Hall who's on the 'do not fly' list, now are they?
And Gibb says the questions that get asked are totally random too because the President asks people to raise their hands and then he picks one .... okay ... we all know how this works, we've all been in a class where the teacher picks 'at random' ... he is going with faces that he knows, trusts, and you can bet he is avoiding those who look like they might not agree with him.
But I don't like Gibbs --- he seems to be on the old Clinton page of the "Mass Right Wing Conspiracy" ....
He just comes across as such an .... well i won't say it.
