Reality Check

Okay - I think I may have mentioned before that I just love those court room shows on tv ... my favorites being "Judge Judy" and "Judge Joe Brown", I like People's court but our local affiliate has it on at the stupidest time of day - right in the middle of getting supper ready. There are several others that I have never really liked, too much like 'rip offs' or 'wannabe's, and I don't like 'Judge Mathis' (if you are a woman you better hope you don't end up in his court ... I found that women are less likely to win a case in his court - and if its 2 women against each other there was a period where it seemed like the rulled so that neither gained anything)

But lately Judge Joe Brown has been getting pretty loud & mouthy lately ... but then I do have to admit that he gets that way mostly when he is dealing with a loud mouth who feels its their right to start screaming at the judge.

Who does that???

No you are not in a formal court (otherwise a lot of these people would be going to jail), and no he isn't acting so much as a judge as he is an arbitrator, and no I don't think the bailiff has real bullets in their guns ... BUT you have to carry yourself with some decorum.

You can't sit there and call the Judge a fool, yell at him that he's not a dog expert or flip him off (as one gal did when she was brought to court over her pit bull attacking her neighbors dog) .... you can't get away with arguing with the judge that it wasn't your fault that your renter didn't have gas because she never asked you to turn it on ... You shouldn't ever argue about how many kids you have if they are not part of the case (and you should never be the one who brings them into the conversation in the first place) ...

You are going to tick off the judge ...

And for Lord's sake, if you are being brought before a judge -- don't stand there smiling like a fool and then try to sweet talk your way out of it by telling the judge how 'handsome' or 'beautiful' they are (psst - it ain't gonna help you)

And just because you can't afford to pay back the loan someone gave you, or the money you charged on a credit card, or the money from a check you had someone else cash for you and 'oops' its a bad check ... just because you don't have the money -- it doesn't mean you don't own it.

You still owe it ... so don't whine in the camera or at the judge that you can't pay it back.
