Just because she wrote a series of books and has a few charities doesn't qualify her ... if it were there would be a lot of people who would qualify ....
This should be reserved for people who stop a terrorist attack - like those on Flight 93.
This should be reserved for people who develope a cure for AIDS or Cancer
This should be reserved for people who found away to make oil substitute from algae
This should be reserved for people who get crime in their city under control
This should NOT be given to someone just because they wrote a children's book series ... especially not one that became geared towards sales.
In 5-10 yrs there will be a new series that people are going gaga over - and Rowlings will be just a memory ... that is not a sign of OUTSTANDING contributions.
The Polio vaccine -- that is an outstanding contribution
The fire fighters who developed the Water Dump - that is an outstanding contribution
not authors like this.
But I don't think "witch craft' had anything to do with it. In fact nothing in there would work anyways - trust me - in fact if anything the potions put children at risk ... some of the ingredients are deadly if used as they are mentioned in the book
I think what we have here is a former staffer who is afraid that if he doesn't put some contriversy in his book he won't sell a copy
