Its been a while so I thought I'd use this heading.
New Home construction -- for some reason they use this as an indicator of job and economic growth ... to me home sells are more of an indicator since the majority of people can't afford at any time to actually have a house built for them, they have to move into an existing home.
But construction is generally up when the weather gets good -- Apr/May/Jun/Jul/Aug/Sep, maybe even Oct in some areas.
Not last month
May numbers for new home construction was down 10% ... rather unusual ... they figure its because the falsely inflated numbers caused by the 'new home rebate' that the government was offering has ran out.
They did see an increase in the amount of Pre-Fab houses -- you know the ones that come like one of those doll houses, put tab A in slot B ... we call them "Cookie Cutter" houses here, they all look fairly the same ... everything is pretty much put together in the factory and the house is built like a house of cards.
can you tell I don't trust them in a strong wind, much less a major storm?
the cost is supposed to be about 30-50% less than a built-on-site home ... but I don't think you have as much choice.
