True or not?

Was watching "The Rifleman" when the hotel clerk said their dining room served:

• choice steaks
• full course dinners
• seconds on veggies
• all for 40¢!

Granted that 40 cents bought a lot more and was tougher to come by in those days - but a STEAK and fixings for that price?

I find that hard to believe ....

But then I supposed that it's nearly impossible for kids these days to believe gasoline that was less than 50 cents/gallon too
