If you aren't familiar (where have you been) this is very much like the gild that was paid in the Scandinavian countries when you killed someone by mistake, usually the bread-winner, so the family of the person had some sort of compensation.
This is usually linked to slavery before the American Civil War.
My question is: if you are a descendent of an immigrant who arrived AFTER the Restoration period why do you have to pay with your taxes?
Wha if your black but defended from people who came you very AFTER slavery ended? Can you still get Reparations?
What if your Asian and can link your ancestors back to the railroad days? They weren't called slaves but they really were - can they get Reparations?
Then there's Native Americans ... they were treated the worst but they seem to be doing so much better than everyone else - at least those who have found a way to make money and not just casinos

There's lots of questions
There was a New England school who voted to give "Reparations" to African-American students by the student body ... but these kids didn't realize what they were voting for and it sounds like there's a bit of a rebellion going on now that they found out they have to pay more per semester (DUH!!)
