First, they meet in a hall or church basement and fill out a form picking their top 3 candidates (I don't know why, other than the fact that there were so many candidates this year) - then they split into groups by who they want (no secret ballots allowed here) ... then they try to convince people from the other groups to come over to their group. Whoever has the largest group wins.
It's very much like a grade school game of Red Rover!
Then there's that word ... Caucus ... sounds like "cock us" ... any kid would chuckle ... but we're talking kids in their 20s here ...
So .... now ... the kids have NEW reason to laugh ...

care website, the screams about possible hacking in the last 2 election cycles, the botchery of the MNDPS registration program (that was a horrid mess), etc ... they decided to not only bring the reporting of the tallies into the 21st century with an App, they didn't bother to TEST it completely!!
You would think with CA/Silicone Valley in their pocket they'd be able to get something that worked perfectly ... oh you silly humans!
They SAY all the data was collected properly, but the numbers which came OUT were flawed & spurratic ...
Well Iowa rarely picks the actual candidate - but after Sanders got screwed over in 2016 by the party - you've gotta wonder what the heck they are trying to pull ... AGAIN!
And in reality, the best way to get Republicans to the polls in ANY kind of weather, it would be to run a self identified SOCIALIST on ANY ticket where they could actually win.
