DON'T LET HE DOOR HIT YOU WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YOU

 as we used to say in my day ....

So the MN legislature got a Special Session - basically the new "norm" for up here, I can't remember the last year we didn't have to have one .... only this year we knew it was going to happen at the very beginning - when HALF THE HOUSE & HALF THE SENATE didn't bother to show up for a month!!!!!!

Well - the Gov. (Tim Walz) gave them until 7am TOMORROW morning to pass the new state budget .... they went in with a bunch of stuff to do ....

They needed to:

Health and Human Services
Educatiotn
Transportation
Enviorment/Natural Resources

Well, they had decided last week to split into groups, small groups - like 2 prople, one person from each party, and work out "deals"

Well - it sounds as if only one or two  of these groups actually tried to work something out .... one of them being about MEDICAID .... not Medicare  as they keep saying .... basically saying it was okay for CHILDREN, MINORS to be on it, but ADULTS were not IF they were ILlegals .....  MN tookit in th, at least tha pants on this one - what was supposed to be "only" 7,700 immigrants enrolled, very quickly jumped to 20,187 enrolled, as of 2025 April 24.  Costing Minnesotans $3.9 MILLION at least, that's the current estimate.

Totoal number of claims made so far?  4,300 .... which is actually not that much when you think about it.  But - still!

DHS is projecting expenditures of at least $200 MILLION FY 2025=2026 .... YIKES.

Thins are so tight in the Senate and the House that a single vote could be all that's passing something or not.

 ..But - they couldn't do it - they could not work together as of noon on Monday .... let's hope stuff gets straightened out over night.
