Okay so here is how things broke down;
Hillary appealed to women, to the older population, to party liners (i.e. republican haters) those making less than $50,000 and lived in the suburban areas.
Obama appealled to the younger, wealthier, "bloggers", and less suburban dweller.
Well its New Hampshire--which population do you think is the majority?
It also makes you wonder how much the media had to do with it...those voting for Obama were assured by pollsters that he would win and would have stayed away....while those for Hillary were being told that she would struggle, urging them to get out there.
Also there has been some questions being raised about the Hillary campaign paying/supplying daycare for parents so they can vote. The issue being does this constitute paying for a vote? which would be considered an unethical, and possibly illegal, move.
The question was first raised with groups offering rides to the polls...but my understanding is that as long as it wasn't being offered by a particular candidate or political party (as in the general elections) but rather by groups such as churches, community service groups, businesses, etc. it was okay.
but the childcare was being paid, or at least was reported as being paid, for directly by the Clintion war-chest.
The disparagement between polls just before the election and the results on election day brings up issues of the past of "dirty business"....however this would not be difficult to ferret out and I can't see any politician ever trying it these days. Although they were having problems getting ballots in many areas of the state which is very unusual....very unusual.
That would mean that there were more people voting than registered in the state. Granted you will have new people registering every election but not to the point that they were having. By noon their time there were reports of not having enough ballots.
This would be highly unusual. We have a small town (pop <1000) and we get enough ballots for each person plus extras for new registrations and errors. So they get about 1000 ballots, nearly twice as many as they need. This is standard procedure. Any not used need to be turned in with the others at the end of the night to the county clerk. The clerk was saying last week that he thought there were going to be at least 500,000 votes cast--so why weren't there enough ballots? One town had reported having 2300 people vote by 2pm...one has to wonder how many people actually live in the town because the last election only 1600 at that same hour. where did the extra 700 people come from? Why wouldn't they look at who files for tax returns (just the numbers) to see how many people they have in the state?
The majority of the new registars registered under the democratic party...and it has only been the last three primaries where they have allowed people to register at the polls. Hmmm, so how do they check for fraudulent votes? My guess is they don't.
And it will be just enough, even if questioned, to tip the scales.
Don't get me wrong here--I don't think Obama has the background to support him in the seat as president; he wasn't even in congress for a year before he started running for president (his first stint at politics btw).
I don't think Clinton would be a good president either....she seems to think that her time as First Lady qualifies her as having past political experience in the White House. Now I know the First Ladies are not wall-flowers who sit back and drink tea and meet with the wives of the senators for bon-bons. But would it be enough to prepare her for making decisions regarding budgets, international affairs, and political attacks. of course the joke of the days were that she was actually running the country and Bill was just her mask--if that is true then she has found the way around the 2 term rule of the constitution. I guess the thing that concerns me is when Bill ran she & he made a lot of promises that they knew would never come to flourision.
Where are the relief from student-loans for those who teach for 4 years? Where is the child-health-care? Where is the affordable child care? Where is the "livable" wage? There were all promises they made....knowing that it was never going to be.
See people need to stop thinking of the President as the way to get things done....POTUS is there to (a)stop Congress from making bad legislation, (b)stop Congress from spending money without accountability (c)put a face to the nation (d)make executive decisions about going to war (e)running the marines--but just the marines. Otherwise all the power lies with Congress...
Take a civics course people---then make your decision on who you want to be president. Stop listening to all the "we will do this...." "we will do that...." because in reality they can't do it.
