For those who never believe me that Labs & Newfs are related

Animal Planet :: Dog Breed Profile :: Labrador Retriever: "The original Labradors were all-purpose water dogs originating in Newfoundland, not Labrador. Not only did the breed not originate in Labrador, but it also was not originally called the Labrador retriever. The Newfoundland of the early 1800s came in different sizes, one of which was the 'Lesser' or 'St. John's' Newfoundland — the earliest incarnation of the Labrador."
HAAA!!
So why doesn't the Newfie have a better 'rating' of ownership in the US? They are wonderful dogs.
They are loyal (more so than the Lab), they love to play, they love people, they are great warning dogs, their idea of protection is to get between you and whoever is going to hurt you, they do drool a LOT (think 'Turner & Hooch' in the summertime)....but they don't shed as much, not half as much.

Although I have to admit that I have little bits of Addy all over the floors in my house. They just come out in little balls. I think if she were outside more she probably wouldn't drop them but then she is a Newf and likes to be with people.

I can't wait for this summer when she can get back up to the cabin and the lake! I'm hoping that the 'swimming' instinct will be much stronger this year and she will actually rather jump in the lake than just walk the shore looking for a dead fish we missed, or lay on the back deck/steps waiting for someone to pet her.

She's a good dog....I just wish the landlord of the cabin would allow her inside. But you can't beat the price of rental for lake shore property, free use of the landlords boats/paddleboats, food included, all the coffee you can drink, and a great view---well, okay....the 'landlords' are the in-laws....lol. And if it had not been for my SILs one male dog who felt it his place to mark every spot in the cabin (its a shared family cabin) then she would be allowed in without issue.

They love Addy--except when she comes out of the water and shakes!

Oh how I wish I could find an affordable waterproof digital camera. [sigh]
I think it would be great to be able to get some shots under the water of how her feet work and the muskies/sunnies/perch in the lake [yeah, I suppose carp too].

Actually I woud like to get one I could attach to her collar and take shots while she's in the water.

Oh these are such great ideas!!! To bad I'm only an 'idea-man' or should that be 'idea-woman'?
