"I am a member of the board of governors of the Academy, and we definitely want to put on a great show and honor the films that have come out in the course of the year,' he said on the red carpet at the premiere of his film 'Charlie Wilson's War.'
Hanks said corporate bosses should remember that many people,
from carpenters to caterers, were suffering as a result of the strike by about 10,500 Writers Guild of America members over their dispute with major film and TV studios."
And the corporate bosses should also remember that Hanks has a horse in this race---he is a writer as well.
Some of his works according to imdb.com:

Now lets see, what is the big issue with the picket lines? Oh yeah...they want to be paid for movies that go to video...why that would be the majority of those listed above too....wouldn't it?!
Hey Tom!! Your bias is showing.
p.s: remember when the actors guild went on strike because they weren't getting paid for the commercials they had done in the past which were showing up on tv shows? Notice how many stars you see in the commercials now as opposed to before they won their strike?
What do you think will happen if this strike wins what they want?
