The recall will affect beef products dating to Feb. 1, 2006, that came from Chino, California-based Westland/Hallmark Meat Co., the federal agency said."So someone please tell me how they can recall meat from 2 yrs ago?
My understanding is that this particular supplier served schools--at least here in my state--but even if frozen solid the exp. of meat is one yr. so the meat bought 2 yrs ago would not...or rather should not.... be available for consumption.
And what was out there is already going to have been eaten and any number of kids infected without knowing it.
So here's lies a secondary problem:
How do the parents prove that problems can be linked back to this particular plant? They can't. They could never prove that this beef was the culprit.
So who benefits from the recall?
the school districts who should be able to get the funds back that they spent on the food products.
but for the kids---the damage is done. And the parents have no recourse at all. None.
just a side note:
Its rather ironic that one of the fast food chains which buys this meat is named : In-N-Out!
