The Obama Gaffe Machine - WSJ.com: "Mr. Obama, a former editor of the Harvard Law Review, has largely been given a pass for his gaffes. Many are trivial, such as his suggestion this month that America has 57 states, and his bizarre statement in a Memorial Day speech in New Mexico that America's 'fallen heroes' were
present and listening to him in the audience."
Yeah you read that correctly, we have 57 states --- somewhere we gained 7 (even with our territories we don't get that much)
Others:
he birth was inspired by (now) historical events -- which took place 4 years after his birth (how does that happen?)
here's a great one that will bare directly to his ability to be an effective president:
"...such as his denial last April that it was his handwriting on a questionnaire in which, as a state senate candidate, he favored a ban on handguns. His campaign now contends that, even if it was his handwriting, this doesn't prove he read the full questionnaire..."
do we really want someone as President who wouldn't read something completely {especially a lawyer} before signing it?? That could be dangerous! How many pieces of legislation does a President sign each year? Wouldn't you like to know that they at least knew what was supposed to be in it???
More:
"...Mr. Obama told a Portland, Ore., crowd this month that Iran doesn't "pose a serious threat to us," saying that "tiny countries" with small defense budgets aren't much to worry about..."
yeah don't worry about that nasty nuclear bomb they have ... never mind the madman they have at the button .... no they aren't any threat at all (Are we sure this man has a law degree? What kind of grades did he get??) --- don't worry though, the next day to a different crowd he did a 180.
He said that Iran had been a threat for YEARS. {this guy is going to give his tongue whiplash}
He said he wants to meet with Chavez about Colombian guerrillas - don't worry, he reversed his policy at the next speech when he said supporters should be isolated and not met with.
Obama compares his desire to meet with countries such as Cuba & n.Korea to Kennedy meeting with Kruschev -- only he neglects to mention that the Berlin wall was the result of those meetings and that Kennedy got the snot beaten out of him.
Now I have not included the Auschwitz mistake in this list -- I will give him the benefit of the doubt. My father helped with the people taken from the concentration camps ... he had never told anyone until my daughter interviewed him for a school project. Mom said that he was one of the soldiers who met the Russian troops and shook their hand. It was a bit of info here, a bit of info there. These bits get woven into a story that can be passed from person to person.
This one I can see being an honest error in a family story -- and as far as it being his great-uncle instead of his uncle. I called my dad's uncle 'Uncle Tom' too ... it was how dad referred to him, it was how mom referred to him -- so of course it is how us kids would refer to him. That's just getting persnickety.
But I do agree with the reporter that we need to start taking Obama to task for these 'blond' moments or outright LYING....or his SPIN arounds.
We do it for every other politician and we NEED to do it for him too!
