"... In an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was asked by columnist Jon Ralston why he didn't choose Gov. Jim Gibbons to chair his Nevada campaign.Maybe its just up here in my state, but we hear this all the time on the radio and in local political interviews when someone feels they are being asked a question that they can not give a true answer to -- that is the answer they want to give because it is phrased so poorly that any answer will make you look horrid.
"I appreciate his support," McCain said. "As you know, the lieutenant governor is our chairman."
Why snub the governor? Ralston asked.
"I didn’t mean to snub him,. I've known the lieutenant governor for 15 years and we've been good friends," McCain said. "I didn't intend to snub him. There are other states where the governor is not the chairman."
Maybe it's the governor's approval rating and you are running from him like you are from the president? Asked Ralston in a question McCain clearly found loaded.
Said McCain, chuckling, "And I stopped beating my wife just a couple of weeks ago." ..."
It was a very loaded question -- he had already answered the reason why he chose the Lt. Gov over the Gov.
And it is very disingenious that the reporter immediately drew a link between the Gov. upcoming divorce and wife-beating -- especially since the reasons for the divorce was not spousal abuse but 'incapatability' ... it might be because he squeezes the tube & she rolls it ... it might be she wants to spent $1000 on a pair of shoes ... it might be that she can't handle the amount of time he's gone being governor ... it might be that she is allergic to his colonge .... it could be anything.
But usually if its 'spousal abuse' that is usually put directly into the papers. In fact there seems to be suspicions of affairs ... 820 text msgs in one month -- that's pretty assessive and unbelievable.
oh and not to let it go without mentioning:
"... Gibbons you may recall started his governorship amidst accusations that he assaulted a cocktail waitress named Chrissy Mazzeo three weeks before Election Day. Mazzeo said Gibbons grabbed her in a parking garage and threatened to sexually assault her. Charges were never filed ..."I'm sorry this just doesn't wash ... if someone grabs you and threatens you, wouldn't you report it? At some point? why wait until he is running for political office? it just doesn't make sense .... and as Judge Judy says, if it doesn't ring true - then its probably a lie.
Besides which -- does anyone really believe that three weeks before an election that the handlers are going to let him out of their sight for a second?? No way!
