"The disappearance of the Arctic sea ice, making it possible to reach the Pole sailing in a boat through open water, would be one of the most dramatic – and worrying – examples of the impact of global warming on the planet. Scientists say the ice at 90 degrees north may well have melted away by the summer."Of course ... you know during the Medieval warm period which proceeded the 'Little Ice Age' there probably wasn't ice either. Theorists have said that if the polar ice cap did melt that it would halt the Atlantic Conveyor Belt which brings the warmer waters to the north warming them up in the summer.
Since salt-water doesn't freeze the caps, snow, and glaciers are made of fresh water ... the fresh water will not mix well with the oceans salt water so the warmer water doesn't come up quite as far.
For years they have been calling things 'El Nino' and 'La Nina' -- maybe what we have been seeing is just the NORMAL system of the planet ... maybe this is how nature forces evolutionary change.
How would we know? Last time no one was around ... and it would explain the increase in human mass. Get ready people -- fatter people will live and go on ... skinny people will be Popsicles.
