Men's fashion gets a feminine touch at Paris shows: "The notion of wardrobe androgyny was the fitting theme of Yves Saint-Laurent's men's collection, the house that kicked off the just-ended Paris men's shows where men's fashion won a feminine touch.
At YSL, designer Stefano Pilati used quotations from Plato to explain why he combined female detailing with a masculine silhouette.
'The original human nature was not like the present ... the sexes were not two as they are now.'" Okay -- first someone needs to tell this fool that Plato was trying to explain why it is that men seek women and vis versa --- I don't think Plato really know about the 'origin' of humans.
If anything -- the first clothing of humans would have emphasised those attributes they thought made the ideal mate .... perhaps wide hips for women .... longer legs for men .... clothing would have been simple - minimal stitching.
All reality here .... who cares what was worn so long ago ... we want something for now -- guys are going to wear clothes that make them look like, um, guys and not girls.
Its bad enough that the fashionistas are making our young girls dress like they are 25 yr old strippers ... but now they are trying to dress the guys like them too.
Sorry -- I just don't see it really taking off.
