[yes this used to be a great segment, but now it is just a way to poke at Bill]Okay so I have to admit that I have stopped watching Olbermann because of his obsession to poke O'Reilly in the eye anytime he can ... I've always wondered why he loved taking popshots at Bill so often -- don't ask me why I call him Bill, I tend to avoid his show too.
Thin-skinned in his best days, O'Reilly has grown especially sensitive to criticism (or as he's prone to call it, 'vicious personal attacks,' emanating from 'vile left-wing smear sites')"
When I first started watching 'Countdown' it was called just that 'Countdown' then it went onto 'Countdown with Keith Olbermann' ... then somehow I got the feeling that Olbermann was running the station, program director or something like that ... now it might as well be called the 'Beat Bush, Kick Bill Show' for all the good it is doing for "news".
Hubby and I used to watch it for his funny remarks, his cutting wit, his interesting topics, and well thought out views. Now it is so smattered with yellowed journalism we avoid it like an unwanted relative -- you know the kind ... if it weren't for the holidays you'd never see them (damn holidays).
And Bill -- well I'm not really into shows that have a host screaming at the guests ... that's why I stopped watching Rosie O'Donnells afternoon show - when she took off after Tom Selleck I couldn't stand it. You don't invite someone into your house and then start yelling at them and telling them everything they believe in is wrong ... that's not being a good hostess. Bill does this sort of thing all the time -- he is very passionate, I get that .... but you can do it without being mean to someone.
My inlaws and I have nice discussions all the time - they being very intrenched democrats (who have announced that for the first time in their adult years they will not vote because they don't like any of the candidates - although I know my MIL used to like McCain) and my having right-wing, hawkish leanings.
But these two -- or I should say this one, since I've never seen or heard Bill go directly for Olbermann -- are worse than my kids .... or perhaps it is just the standby media that feeds off being able to report the fued that is keeping it going.
Like the gossip queen's (king's) in school who would tell someone what someone else said, getting it just enough wrong to sting or to tell the whole truth instead of keeping it to themselves ... telling just to see the effect ... picking and feeding the sore-feelings until it urupted into a massive fester that soon was a fight. Yeah ... that's probably it more than anything that Olbermann & Bill have actually done themselves.
Although -- my understanding is that because he isn't getting the first name mention on Bill so much that he has decided to go after other hosts as well -- like Hannity. Better watch out, Keith .... Bill may yell at you, but Hannity is smart enough to tie you up with your own words.
