FIrst - let's get this straight - no matter WHO is in the White house, they are going to be out of touch with the everyday person."McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said in response: 'Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people 'cling' to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with
regular Americans?"
Second, since when is it a crime in this country to be rich? so the many owns 5 houses - who the hell cares as long as he is paying the mortgage and taxes on them? I don't even care about Obama's million dollar home - I do care that there are problems surrounding the legalities of the loan used to buy the house, but that's totally different.
I do care that during a campaign one of the candidates decided to take it overseas and then need a vacation in Hawaii .... McCain took his him Arizona I believe - but don't quote me on that.
I do care that at the same time politicians are complaining about the lack of health care, food, shelter for families they are spending tens of millions of dollars on a campaign that shouldn't be geting gong until after the conventions anyways!
Those are the things 'everyday' Americans think about.
As far as McCain's housing goes - my guess is very likely that he doesn't know because a lot of it is more than likely either in his wife's name or in a blind trust so he can still vote on matters without being influenced by his own life.
so he owns a bunch of houses -- whoop-t-do -- the lesson should be, work your ass off and you can too.
and Lord forbid if you should inherit money these days -- I guess the only "honest" buck are the ones from the lottery ... or the music business.
when did old money become so dirty?? Maybe it was the Kennedy's that did that.
