Biden Slips, Suggests FDR Was President When Market Crashed - America’s Election HQ:
"“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,”‘Barack Obama’s running mate recently told the “CBS Evening News.”" I have to feel for Biden ... he will soon be known as the Dan Quayle of the Democratic party.
1. In 1929, there was no television
2. In 1929, Hoover was President not FDR (he was WW2)
3. What helped to pull the US out of the Great Depression was the start of WW2 ... do we need a WW3?
4. The stock market rallied back less than a year later ... but it was the lack of spending by the people that actually caused the Depression to linger on. {stimulus package could help prevent it this time, if people actually spend the money}
5. The Dust Bowl, which officially began in 1931, had a lot to do with the economic down turn on the consumer level
I know it seems petty to bring this up ... but c'mon - this guy is a lawyer by education ... and as a man who has been in politics for over 30 yrs he should know his American history by now, I have a tough time believing that he hasn't ran into the issue of the Great Depression well before now.
