As much as I would love to have seen McCain stick to his guns about this -- there are several issues he should address tonight that really have nothing to do with national security ....
McCain will go to debate - Politico Staff - Politico.com:

"“I understand that there is a lot of attention on this but I also wish Sen. Obama had agreed to 10 or more town hall meetings that I had asked him to attend with me,” McCain said. “Wouldn’t be quite that much urgency if he agreed to do that. Instead, he refused to do it.”"

This is true - if there were more debates scheduled it wouldn't have been such a big deal if they had cancelled just one so this crap could get straightened out --- but BO's handlers were trying to lessen the chance of him stepping in it, after all he does not do well at all when things are not sketched out for him.

But there aren't 10 debates .... there's only 3 ... and I'm hoping that they flip what the debate will be about .... take foreign policy off the table for this one and talk about:

A) commercials that are totally false or fear mongering -- specifically the ones that are being run in Obama's name (though not paid for by his campaign) that implies that McCain will die within his office due to his many bouts of malanoma.

B) Democratic statements that the reason the talks stalled was squarely on McCain's shoulders and all his fault (yeah, I'm sure you were all sweet and berries there too) ... I read one report that says Obama said it, I've read one that blamed Dodd ... I don't really care - the matter is what needs to be cleared up.

C) Biden's recent push for 'pork' spending during the financial crisis (according to one news story -- which may have been pulled as I can not find the link to it while I did find it this morning, it is now gone ... so this might have been old info being passed as new.)

D) how badly everyone acted at the table putting politics before duty, and why it took an 'invitation' from the President before Obama would go to DC to take care of things (an 'invite' from the President isn't really and invite, its more like a polite command)

E) why Obama backed out of his promise to only use public money for his campaign when McCain kept his end up? and no the 'republican propaganda machine' isn't a legit excuse ... McCain has about as much control on that as Obama does the 'democratic propaganda machine'.
