ABC News: Obama: McCain Scoring 'Cheap Political Points':
"'Why don't we just clear it up right now,' Obama told ABC News' Charlie Gibson in an exclusive interview for World News. 'I'll repeat again what I've said many times. This is a guy who engaged in some despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old. By the time I met him, 10 or 15 years ago, he was a college professor of education at the University of Illinois . . . And the notion that somehow he has been involved in my campaign, that he is an adviser of mine, that . . . I've 'palled around with a terrorist', all these statements are made simply to try to score cheap political points.'"It is not that he knew Ayers, its that he should have known who his supporter was -- actually I think it would have even been excused by many of us as 'oh well he only knew him as a college professor' accept it turns out that he knew him well enough to where he should have known about Ayers past before he started running for the House of Rep (Ayers hosted what the Obama campaign calls a 'coffee' and the McCain campaign calls a 'gathering' or 'rally') ... by then you would have thought he would have had enough people on his 'staff' who would have known how to do a simple google search = after all aren't they the ones saying they are oh-so tech savvy?
The point isn't just Ayers ... its that there are SO MANY people around Obama of questionable character that it begins to make a person wonder about his character, deep down behind closed doors.
I mean, geez, we have already gone thru Nixon & Clinton - there are some people who would throw Bush in there too - we do not need another President with a questionable personality or dubious aquaintances. For someone running for a national office you expect better vetting of their associates.
